Announcing Melbourne, Australia Siftup. With Dag attending.

Helllooo out there.

After some discussions between @kymbos, @dag and myself it has been decided that a Siftup in the wondrous city of Melbourne, Australia is a long time overdue.

Dag has made himself available for one day only 'down south' on Saturday, October 8th. Which is, well, a ways off now, but this is our first clarion call to the community to let you know that this is occurring, and to put it in your Google calendars, or Outlook, or scribbled down on a piece of coffee stained paper you have lying around on your desk.

Please let us know if you're a possible attendee of this event, and throw your ideas in for venue. Dag will be traveling from our nation's capital to be with us, so we probably want to make it an afternoon/evening to remember. Or at the very least have some sort of nourishment available.

We'll nut out as much as we can in this post and then I'll do another one closer to the time, just to remind you all, as I'm sure you'll have lost your dirty pieces of paper by then.

Awesome. I'm really looking forward to a true antipodean Sift up. Probably won't be having bulgagi tacos or meat cones like in Portland - but I bet we can rustle up some good meat pies.

I'm in. My brother manages a pretty nice restaurant in Melbourne City we could go to. He'll probably not speak to me for a while after I turn up for dinner with a group of men I met on the internet, but there you go. I almost want to do it for that very reason...

What's the restaurant @kymbos ?

And @dag, can you believe they actually have them in Australia! I couldn't believe anyone would eat that pretend Australian food when actually IN Australia! Having said that, when in San Pedro, I actually found the steak to be quite good at the O.S.

I didn't realize that they actually had them here. It's like Taco Bell in Mexico. >> ^spoco2:

Hey, a flame is a flame, a chef is a chef. It does not matter where on the globe you are, heat, metal grille, its all just tools of the trade. Once you are in the trade that is.

@kymbos, looks very nice, and it's about a block and a half from where I'm currently sitting

I'm seeing a front-runner already, what with the family tie and everything Two different options too, in the upstairs area or the downstairs.

Now all we need is more Aussies to put their hands up that they'll be there. As it stands it's going to be 3 aging men looking uncomfortable amongst the trendy of Melbourne

Speak for yourself! I'm hip. I'm with it. Dakadakadakadakadakadaka.

Anybody? Anybody?

I think we'll need to do a bit of bar-hopping pre and post to show Dag what we gots. There's also the option of footy... Fark, I just had a horrible feeling that we had planned it on AFL Grand Final weekend. No worries, that's on Oct 1st. So no footy.

Crikey! Sounds like one g'day of a gryte toym.

I'd totally be there and even almost completed checkout for my Qantas Airlines ticket, but then I realized I need to wash my hair and re-lace all my tennis shoes that night.

You blokes have a Foster's for me! (It's Australian for "beer.")

I can be the counterbalance since I still pass for being in high school

Will try to make it down from Brisbane work permitting.>> ^spoco2:

@RedSky That'd be quite some trek But obviously worth it, I mean it's Melbourne, a place of wonder and delight. We'll have to make it a real 'sample the delights of Melbourne' type of affair at this rate. All you foreigners (Yeah, I classify Queenslanders as foreigners )
