I've had the same New Year's resolution for the past two years.... I made one that I can actually keep.
I started carrying cash for the first time in my life, and whenever I am shopping at a locally owned store, I pay cash to save the shopowners the credit fees. Exception -- gas stations and Safeway.
My little bit for the local economy -- keep the cash local, and it is worth more to the community at large.
It's an incredibly easy resolution to keep -- and for the first time in my life, I have had SUCCESS.
*read more (for pleasure or for personal growth). I read a lot of textbooks so for my free time reading seems like such a chore. But, I really do enjoy it, it's just the thought of it that makes it seem like such a cumbersome activity.
@rottenseed. I should have included reading more in the choices. Forgot about that excellent resolution.
That's ok. It should have been there in lieu of "be nicer to people." That's a stupid resolution.

I actually had to think about this one 'cos my intention is to lose weight. To do this will mean two changes, namely "eat less" & exercise (a.k.a. "get out more"). As the exercise part requires more effort, getting out more is what I voted for.
Hmmm..... I won't say anything for now, but this post has actually got me thinking.
I might make a list of resolutions this year. Just a number of little habits of mine that I find annoying or counterproductive.
VS more.
Less work, more play.
Voting for this poll ended with the majority of users voting Fuck it..
2013 - I'm going to eat 3000 calories a day for six months while working out 6 nights a week. (Mix of lifting, cardio and lots of yoga.) Then I'm going to do a round of HCG to melt any remaining fat.
It's amazing what something as minor as going for a walk every day can do. I started a new job in June and, for lack of better options, I started going for a walk every day at lunch. At first, only about .75 miles, then 1.3, now 1.85.
I did not have a lot of weight to lose (10-15lbs) but I desperately needed exercise and I have not only lost the weight, but am noticeably more toned.
The mistake a lot of people make when they start walking for fitness is they sort of meander around for a while; You've got to hustle. It's very doable, though... damn near anyone can go for a walk... it's not overwhelming and discouraging the way a major workout routine can be.
I suggest starting while it's cold, too. Nothing keeps you moving better than freezing.
