Exactly, people who espouse to be anarchists or libertarians only really want to be up to a point. They always seem to be quite happy to take those things that are provided by living in a society, but seem to get shirty when that entails paying taxes to fund such things.

Strange that.

I use the compulsory services I'm forced to pay for. Yes. Government has a monopoly on violence, so I must use their armies and police. They've a monopoly on first class mail, so I use their postal service. They also maintain a monopoly on property, so I use their roads to move about and live on the land they claim to own.

Communism: Cows belong to everyone. People will milk them because they know their neighbors need it, and will share the milk with all those who need it.

Socialism: Cows belong to everyone, but an elected government will manage the feeding & milking of them, and will sell that milk at cost to anyone. If people think the production of milk should be increased or decreased, they can vote to change it.

Democracy: Cows either belong to everyone, or belong to whoever paid for it, or are individuals with their own rights, depending on what sort of social contract the people have put in place for ordering society.

Anarchy: You have two cows, but then someone else decides he wants them. He kills you, and then they're his cows, and you're fucking dead.
