So I'm just wondering the obvious... why was it necessary to have someone stand behind the glass?

It's a marketing gimmick, not an actual test. I doubt they did this until they were absolutely sure that the glass would stop the bullets every time (and that the shooter never missed).

Test worked out great.
The real tragedy struck once he tried to install it.

I'll bet he was pissed when the goddamn stuff actually worked.

Bullets don't carry as much inertia as most people think. They move fast, but they don't weigh much.

Maybe this guy really is trying to shoot his wife and she keeps blocking herself.
