"Up is Down" a short film about conformity and humanity

UP IS DOWN (1969)
I'm not sure if I would watch this with young children, though it appears to be a children's film on the surface. Some of the images get pretty graphic, and the doctor and psychologist look absolutely DEMENTED. This definitely shows the rift between children's programming then & now. -YouTube

Title is inappropriate. It's not about forcing children to conform, but forcing people who want the world to be a better place into people who accept the cesspool that the world currently is. As shown by the dedication to Martin Luther King Jr., this is about people who reject hatred and warmongers.

If anyone can come up with a better title Id be happy to change it.

Wow, that was heavy handed. They made some articulate points about the value of individuality in the beginning. But then portrayed all "normal" people as cruel, intolerant, unimaginative, misanthropic warmongers.

For a video that pretends to preach love and understanding it seems bizarrely filled with hate for humanity. Except of course upside down people, presumably those are the surrogate for hippies, they're alright. But everyone else - total fucking sucm.

Modern liberalism* seems to be trouncing real individuality at every turn: no longer are you allowed to choose what to drive, what to eat, whether to buy health care, whether to use tobacco, whether to own a gun, what you're allowed to say in public, whether you may express religious thought in public, what you can do with your own land. Hell, now it's your fault the weather changes, so they'll tax that, too.

Your children's children's children have more important things to worry about than hand-walking, like how to foot the bill for all this tyranny.

* Modern conservatism is doing the same exact thing only at half the speed.

All of those things are still permitted, and will stay that way, if the actual (as opposed to fictional) "modern" liberals have anything to say about it.

However, in the wake of a series of conservative administrations, we seem to have lost the ability to marry who we choose, take the drugs we want to take, and the ability to practice a non-Christian religion without persecution.

I also seem to have lost the ability to sue telephone companies who eavesdrop on my conversations without warrants, my right to habeas corpus, and the protections of the Geneva conventions. Again, thanks to the "modern" conservatives.

I have never, ever seen you preach tolerance for a viewpoint other than your own myopic view of the world. We tolerate you, because we pride ourselves on tolerance of people who are different from ourselves, but your hyopcritical, sanctimonious horseshit makes it a little more difficult than it really needs to be.
