I would rather a kid get all these questions wrong but understand the basics of scientific methadoligy , you can learn facts and history over time as you get older but if you dont understand critical thinking and scentific method then you will litraly fill your brain with shit and evan worse not know the shit from the non shit.

I've taught for over a decade in Canada, South Korea and Taiwan from kindergarten to mostly the University level...I think most of you would be stunned by the profound ignorance of the coming generations.

My boss has been teaching the same class the same way at the college undergrad level for 25 years. The failure rate has gone from 5% to 25%. They're getting dumber.

Yeah, I don't think I'd grade those problems the same way. If your brain is "litraly" filled with shit, that is almost certainly going to be your #1 problem.

Education has changed... all the stuff you needed years to memorize is no longer relevant (to know by memory), but no one has figured out how to effectively harness real brain power and encourage creativity instead of destruction... surely knowing trivia =/= iq =/= potential to contribute

SAT scores had to be re-normed to a lower level in the 90s because a larger portion of society was going to college.

The smart fraction is just as smart as they've always been, but they're a much smaller proportion of society now for various reasons.

The first step towards Idiocracy. In 3-5 years we'll find out the ones who missed the most questions already have a kid with another on the way.
