Never seen lava, huh?
Crumbnumber1says...Damn I could watch stuff go under there all day. Why just a piece of wood, a screw, and a rock? Why not guitars and cellphones and vases!!!
Asmosays...Now all we need is an ant colony...
BoneRemakesays...I bet there are a lot of ways that we can harness they sun and light in general that have yet to be thought of. This I dont see a much of a very practical thing although I love it and even more so because it gets kids thinking such as the same it did me with a sort of focal experiment which was performed when I was a young lad.

I thought it was six days, and he put his feet up on the stool, laid back , got some women over and smoked some joints. But thats just what they taught me in grade school I think.
EmptyFriendsays...so how does this work? he mentions that it is a mirror... but the light is coming down from the top...
without him mentioning a mirror, i would think it's just like a giant magnifying glass.
gbfunksays...Sure, but will it blend?

Thats what you get when you outsource your creation to people who cut corners just so they can have an early weekend. Shoddy work.

flechettesays...I said I've never seen it CATCH fire. Please show me a clip of rocks inside the earth being crushed under tremendous pressure and melting, because while I've seen lava, I've never seen the forces that make it work while still underground.

deathcowsays...If you can focus that much with a single 2 meter paraboloid, wouldn't it be more efficient to heat water with power like that than to use solar panels?

That's the general idea behind thermal solar collection, though I think they molten salt instead of water since it won't boil at normal atmospheric pressures.
FlowersInHisHairsays...I love the way the chap's face lights up when he sees the wood catch fire.
MrFisksays...Oh, I thought you said Iraq.
