Yup, a good bit of defensive driving is being able to predict/anticipate other drivers being morons.

Actually in some states in usa, it's the law that you can only pass on the left. So that would mean the right most exit lane is the slowest, and each lane to its left is slightly faster.

But nobody follows that law anyway...

Plus it's easy to see the SUV in this video recording, because we are looking for something wrong - if the video was just a non-eventful exit from a highway, I doubt it would have made it to the top 15.

The problem is people aren't always looking for something wrong. I've trained myself to do that whenever I drive. If you don't drive/ride like your invisible then you're just asking for an accident like this guy.

The reason this made it into the top 15 is because it's an accident (Everyone likes those), First person (bonus voyeur points), and much like a Horror movie everyone sees it coming and starts saying "No don't go in there!"

Agreed, he seems to be the fastest driver on the road and doing that in the far right lane is dangerous. That said, the SUV should have waited and done a shoulder check rather than trying to switch 2 lanes in one shot. I'd call 1/4 fault to the camera driver, 3/4 to the SUV.

The camera driver wasn't doing anything wrong; if the fucking douchebag SUV driver had followed proper lane-changing procedure, this wouldn't have happened. And I wouldn't want to strangle him/her with my bare hands right now.

I see this crap at least once a week driving home. There's a section of the highway where you're driving south and it merges with an east/west highway. To go east, you must exit on the right (west) side and to go west you must exit on the left (east) side. The signs informing you of the upcoming interchange begin about 2 miles out. At one mile out the highway widens 4 lanes with double white lines dividing the exit lanes. Every time I go through this area, there is always some dumb ass not paying attention, realizing at the last minute that they're in the wrong lane and shooting across 4 lanes of traffic to get to their exit. There's at least one wreck at this spot every week.

legal fault goes to the SUV.... realistically the camera car shares the fault for not defensive driving.

Ouch, that's gotta smart. The only thing I would fault the cam-driver for is not seeing that coming. It looks like the SUV cuts across all the lanes in order to get to their exit..that's just a dick move. Double d-baggery for not putting in enough effort to turn their fat f*ck!ng head and check their blind spot.

Yes, I know the driver in the black SUV is a moron. However... there is a reason why passing on the right is ILLEGAL in Germany.

Not to mention the speed discrepancy of the driver with the cam. Defensive driving STARTS with not being too far above or below the speed of the cars around you.
