INSANE Fairground Ride.

Normally, nothing of this nature scares me......but I'd SERIOUSLY give this one a second thought.

Edit:- I know the music didn't go down too well with some people, but just in case anybody thinks otherwise, the band's name is EARTHLINGS & the song is called "The Grass Near The House"

So many potential points of failure on this. I think the designer was as insane as his/her creation.

One thing that used to freak me out about amusement park rides was whenever I'd hear something metallic clang, or groan or anything. My mind would start wondering "okay... what just broke?"
Would be fun to make a ride that had some mechanism that intentionally made extremely disturbing noises like that, as though the whole structure was going to come down at any moment. Heh.

We had a similar ride in Louisville, KY at Kentucky Kingdom (closed in 2010) although it was often broken and was removed in 2005. The Quake was the first of its kind from Vekoma (Waikiki Wave).

I rode it many times while it was still operating. It wasn't all that much fun, but our out of town guests always loved it.

That ride could be so much worse. Those large arms were moving really slowly. Imagine if they sped up and went in different directions at the same time. Carnage. Still, there is no way I'd go near it.

The Quake looks much faster than this ride. The forces on the arms must be immense.

http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Rides/Thrill-Rides/Wipeout.aspx was debuted in 93, moves quicker and does a lot more flipping/inverting the riders. Seems similar to the Quake although it looks like the Quake doesn't invert.. =)
Better vid of the whole ride:

And yeah, the negative g's are quite strenuous at some points.

But *Russian construction is much shoddier, so there's a higher risk-thrill factor. You never know when that thing is going to collapse.
