Fail mother leads her kids into oncoming traffic

This guy is driving the wrong way down this street , But someone needs to teach mom to look both ways. Luckily the kids got away with only a few bumps and bruises ! and they are Ok !

That's like one of my worst nightmares right there, hitting someone's kid(s).
I feel bad for everyone in this video. Even though the mother was stupid to rush into the path of the driver, I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about the horror she felt as she watched her kids bounce off a car. Sheesh.

Is that not a bigger fail for the driver? 30 KPH the wrong way down a one way street with parked cars on both sides making a less than one lane roadway in town without looking out for pedestrians? I counted near 3 full seconds between the time they enter the road and the time he hits them, with no braking during that time. To me that makes it even more the driver's fault.
True, the peds were J walking and didn't look both ways, but the greater negligence was on the drivers part in my eyes. I hope he's insured.

I think it's equal blame personally. No excuse for driving the wrong way down a one way. I have to admit though, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. for some reason, it has become acceptable for pedestrians to walk right into the street without looking both ways.

I see it all the time, I'm in my car, wanting to turn, only to see some pedestrian nearing the intersection and just walk right into it without turning their heads or batting an eye.

It makes absolutely no sense. This is one case where I think might does make right. cars take a long time to come to a stop, whereas a human can stop almost instantly. A car hitting a human can be catastrophic as shown in the video...a human hitting a car? when does that happen?

Cars should be given the right of way

but yeah, when they're going the wrong way down a one way, it's harder to be forgiving.

I'll wager none of them will make that mistake again in a hurry. I walked out in front of a car on my 16th birthday. Entirely my fault and I was lucky to escape with just bruises. 9 Years later I am still jumpy as fuck whenever I'm crossing, and I kinda think thats how it should be. You spend your life around cars and you forget that they are massive projectiles and you are in their path. Close calls like these make good reminders - good vaccines.

Parenthood has made me extremely sensitive to this kind of thing. All the came out of my mouth at the sight of those children being stricken was:

motherfucker.

And I immediately started welling up. I can't bear the thought of my children being injured at the hands of some dipshit son of a bitch, and by transference it just kills me to see any innocent children hurt.

The driver was stupid to be driving the wrong way but the mother was stupid to assume that people always obey the law. When you're dealing with things that can easily kill you (like cars), you can't afford to be complacent. Always pay attention and never assume anything.
