Exact search matches not "relevant"?

I don't know where to post this, as this is my first time posting to SiftTalk, so don't chastise me, please. I have noticed some of the more recent sifts are about the show Community. I wanted to see some other clips from Community, so I searched for "Community". Thirty-three pages of results came back. Only about 5% of those results involved the word "Community". In the top 10 results (sorted by relevance) were videos about "communication", "communicator", and "communism". I understand that these similar words might be helpful, but surely the word "community" would be more useful. Even an advanced search using "intags:community" didn't seem to change the first page of results at all. Of course, the same problem happens if I click on a tag hyperlink. Is this a bug or a 'feature'?

TL;DR tags don't help me find the right video at all.

Yeah, there are many things that are great about videosift -- the search function is not one of them. Usually if I need to find something specific I just do a google search within the videosift.com domain.

I don't know. I know that it doesn't work perfectly - but do you find Google better? Maybe we should have a poll on this. We could always make Google site search the default.

I've thought about this, and here's what I think would work best:

Keep the default search the way it is. I often get the results that I'm looking for, though I'll admit it's probably because I've gotten used to how VS's search function works. Still, I have trouble with it many times as well. Therefore I propose this next step:

Once the results page is shown, give us the options to go advanced with the query and to use Google search. Here is what I am talking about. You can usually tell right away whether or not your default search yielded the desired results, so immediately displaying both the advanced search and Google search options would hopefully be helpful.

How does that sound, everyone?

I hate when sites use Google to search their pages. On the other hand, I've rarely had videosift's search results give me anything even remotely relevant to what I was looking for.

"Community" should have the Channel "1stTube" tagged onto it. Then you should be able to go to the 1sttube channel and then search withing that channel.

Channel tagging helps a lot - Kinda what's they're there for.

Disclaimer - "SHOULD" refers to a perfect world

If you can't assign channel markers to a post - drop a hint to the submitter.
OR
Start a Playlist and start collecting "Community" sifts.

How about having both searches? I have both on my personal web site.

We're going to add a Google search option on our next update- similar to the way KP described. It's happening soon with a few other goodies.

Soon? We're waiting on a few elements to fall into place- but not long at all.

Great. Can you include something that restricts quoting to only the previous direct quote? I really find it distracting when people quote a string of quotes...
