Video Flagged Dead

What Happens To This Stuff Left In A Foreclosed House?

Wow. It's weird to watch, but these guys are the 'Trash Out Crew' - they empty the foreclosed properties of everything left behind, including computers, photos, childrens toys and even...urns.

I went in on a condo with a friend when I was a youthful 22...After trashing the place, he up and split leaving me with a large mortgage I couldn't handle. Better believe when the place foreclosed I just grabbed the shit I needed and left everything else there...

Surely they could donate most of this to a thrift store if they're having trouble coordinating with a charity as most of them have store-fronts. Then again, I guess that adds on to shipping expenses.

I'm actually in the process of looking for a new temporary apartment... or a house-share situation.. In the process, I'm finding so many people looking to help sustain their mortgage by opening up their homes to folks like me to rent out a room or two... And I'm also witnessing a side of the housing market -- where people buy too much home for no inhabitants.. it's as if it's a twilight zone episode.. but all-too-real.

I wonder if these "Trash Out" squads are what Obama had in mind for the new jobs in America...

Deanosays...

Fascinating. Reminds me of the guys who clear out crime scenes, scrub blood off the walls etc.

BTW this is not terrible as defined by that channel.

I imagine the usual caveats would apply, liabilty for one.

Definitely sad but I sympathise with the trash out guy who specifically mentioned the attempt to get charities in to take the best bits turning out to be too problematic.

I'm a real emotionless bastard. I think I'll do well on that job, just as long as there's no cleaning, shoveling or heavy lifting involved. I'll be the first guy in scoping the place out, stealing all the nice stuff and vanish until the next job. I think there's a job title for that...oh yeah. Vulture.

ravermansays...

The irony is, people have spent so much time being materialistic, and trying to aquire more and more stuff to define themselves...

... and when push comes to shove it actually all means nothing to them.

All the big screen tv's and tables, and computers - it's all just hollow unfulfilling "stuff"

^also confused as to why there are no dumpster chasing ebayniacs in this clip. looks like you could pay off your mortgage just by following these guys around.

Depending on the laws in their locality it could be illegal to remove things from "roll off" dumpsters.

But I'm like you, I'd want to go in in the morning before the trash out crew and take what I wanted to fob off on eBay/craigslist and leave them the rest.

Why not open the homes up to the public for people to take what they want before the trash crew? Like an estate/garage sale where everything is free (first come first serve)?
