Russian Extreme Sport Mountain Ball Ends In Tragedy

Not snuff. But.... the story doesn't end well after the video ends.

According to Youtube comment:

"This video captures the last moments of Denis Burakov's life, and the never ending horror his friend, Vladimir Shcherbov will have to go through knowing he survived. This footage is sad to watch and an unfortunate reminder to be aware of all the perils associated with such unregulated 'extreme sports.'"

OK, this has been posted twice as snuff and removed - then it keeps coming back.

It technically is snuff - even if you don't see the Graphic final impact.
"According to reddit comments this was fatal: Apparently one person died and the other is in critical condition."

"Mr Burakov was still alive when rescuers reached him, a long time later, suffering from a broken neck and spine, however he died on the way to the hospital.

Lucky to survive, his companion Mr Shcherbov was hospitalised with concussion and multiple lacerations to the head and body.

Ball that can roll ANY direction. Check.
Slippery surface. Check.
Mountain covered in said slippery surface. Check.
Dumb ass willing to get into ball. Check.

How did you think it was going to turn out? I mean, the odds were stacked against you from the start.

The saddest part is that he had a chance to pollute the gene pool already.

Think things through or GTFO.

*eia not snuff , not any more snuff than watching a video of little kids boarding a plane which the last you saw on the video was the engine sucking in a giant goose and flaming out on takeoff.

I can find 50 more videos on the sift where things ended tragically.

Lay down some solid guidelines and I would be happy to follow them. "Videos where things go bad (even after the video ends) and it makes most people feel really uneasy to watch." ?

I agree, It's our rules that are soft in this area. It doesn't matter to me, I just wanted an official call. Yay or nay, which is why I sent the previous posting to discus.

If "most people" actually felt uneasy watching a ball roll down a hill, they would downvote it.

It's anti-democratic to try to find loopholes to get around the community's majority opinion.

chilaxesays...

If newsworthy, educational videos about balls rolling down hills are personally offensive to you, have you tried not clicking on those videos?

That would be better than selfishly trying to ruin things for the majority of the Videosift community, while hoping they don't stick up for themselves.

Idiots going to idiate.

I'd call it snuff.

You're just messing with me, right?

On the topic of snuff. This is not snuff. Snuff will show the actual death of a person in visceral detail and is made for that purpose only. Showing the precursor to a horrific accident is not by any means a snuff film. While we know that someone dies off camera several minutes later, the video was not posted to show "death" and the glorious nature of death. Rather this video was posted by the friends of the deceased as a warning to people thinking of zorbing in the future.

The cars dodging plane crash debris in Russia was the same... but the videosift definition and the normal definition are different. Here footage of a fatal accident is forbidden, except in special circumstances.

I'm surprised this one has lasted as long as it has.

I agree with you in general. However this was not only the footage of a fatal accident. This was posted as a warning, a PSA if you will, of an unregulated and dangerous sport by people that were this man's friends. If you can only show the thrill videos of success in dangerous sports and not the consequences when things don't go as planned, how can we as the watchers of said videos expect to learn from them. I know that my point of view will be unpopular here on the sift, but I learned something valuable from this post.
