kymbosThat was the coolest thing I've seen all week.
westyum WTF BBQ lol
so obvious and simple but also counter intuitive in many ways (if your not aware of the physics ). its always cool to see visual demonstrations of physics using basic objects or highly visible objects that everyone is used to using.
Its like the first time you see a magnet float its just a WTF BBQ moment.
westyHaving thought about it this demonstration might be more demonstrating an object getting cought in verticies rather than a "plane" floating due to force equilibrium.
basicly the fact that this is shaped as a plane is irrelivent it could be manny shapes so long as it would remain within the feild and of a waght that can be suported by the vortesices.
it allso remains possable that this is faked as it apears to be balencing on strings , forgetting that for a second it would still be intresting to achive if you could produce 2 clean air flows and a balenced object.
oxdottirApplied science is ... *engineering!

nockYeah, it may very well be fake (anyone with 2 identical fans and some paper at home?), but even with string I'm not sure I could do this convincingly. If it's post=production editing then that would be a little easier to do.

jimnmsLooks fishy, but still upvoted. I don't see how the plane didn't fall out of the air with such a steep nose down attitude.
charliemsays...Supremely fake.
Good luck creating two smooth air flows in anywhere outside of a wind tunnel.
IronDwarfSeems phony to me too. Too many eddies and currents that would collide exactly where the plane is supposed to be perfectly still, especially outside where any little gust of wind would push the plane around.
KnivesOut*fake.
EDDcompletely and blatantly fake. Have you guys never heard of THE RANDOM??
DrivelsAdvocateThey should install these things above the Hudson River, just in case. And props to Don King, his hairdressing secret is finally revealed.
ReverendTedYeah, I'm going to go with fake on this one. Notice how the plane wobbles slightly in his hand before it's lowered completely, and then suddenly becomes rigid as he appears to push down on it slightly, then becomes unstable again when it's released. And then there's the noise when it "exits", as if it's sliding against something on the way out.
Ah. Well, when a piece like this is in the same collection, one might begin to suspect.
Doc_MI believe this was meant as art, not science... that or a joke.
lampishthingThe dude's other videos seem to be artsy.
jwrayObvious bluescreen puppeteering. The angle of the lighting on the plane does not match the angle of the lighting on the fans.
ForgedRealitysays...Well regardless, it's still fun to watch.
OrnthoronDefinitely meant as an art piece.
