Unintentionally touching the floor (or stairs) in the NYC subway with your bare hand has to be one of the bigger fails specific to living there.

Sheldon from Big Bang said if a stair is off by as little as 4 millimeters most people will trip.

This is an example of the genius of NYC public works' engineers who don't want you feeling too comfortable. It's a warning to all who live there to stay alert and vigilant and take nothing for granted.

I wish the video maker would have proved it with a ruler.
I could go measure this with a 10 minute bike ride, but I am lazy.

Today MTA said that they sent out a crew overnight and they already fixed the stairs.

Now all the stairs are 1/2 inch taller than they should be.

Interesting how our brains make such precise assumptions about where each next step will be.
