oritteroposays...Ice has lower density than water, so no.
If you meant the fire, wood doesn't conduct heat terribly well and hot air rises so the main mechanism for heating the ice will be radiant heat... so this isn't a terribly efficient way to make a hole in the ice with fire.
Doesn't that sink?
