I always found it a thing of respect but to the culture it affects is where the judgment should lie (Remember, I was a kid when I held that view. I always looked up to the Braves. If they hate that term, brave should have no place in our society's sports. Same with redskins and such.)

And why was the woman on the right side of the team? I expected a man to slap the ball out of her hand and run off with it...

They are not eradicating racism. They are only eradicating any personal expression of belief. Banning Donald Sterling from the NBA is right out of 1984.
Racism can only be eradicated by a realization that all people are created of God.
Personally, I will still gravitate toward white people, just as black people gravitate toward black people. It is due to shared experience.
When the movie Planet of the Apes was being filmed and the actors went off to eat lunch, the gorillas sat with the gorillas, the chimps sat with the chimps, and the orangutans sat with their fellows. It wasn't racism, it was shared experience.

Just as I would rather sit with a black cop than a white firefighter because the cop and I share a common experience.

Correct me if im wrong but you're making a comparison of animals of completely different species to an animal (humans) same specie just different race or skin color. Different races ARE NOT different species.

I think you're right, but that said different 'races' are different sub-species. They are all sapiens though.
EDIT: with the possible exception of Australian aborigines, which are actually a different type of human as I understand it, separated around 50K years ago +- if I'm not mistaken.
DOUBLE EDIT: research shows me they are homo sapiens, probably a different sub-species though.
I'm not sure if that's a distinction that matters.
EDIT: and the apes/monkeys are different FAMILIES and Genus as well as different species and sub-species, not that the actors were actually apes or monkeys.

No, they are certainly not. They are stating they won't tolerate CERTAIN expressions of CERTAIN beliefs (in their private business) that have been determined to be unacceptable by those in the business group.
It would be out of 1984 if the FED had forced him out, the government had nothing to do with this though, so I'll just say I think you're wrong.
You make ridiculous assumptions based on skin color that one's with similar color must have a similar experience...I think that way of thinking has been proven to be incorrect and overly simplistic, and is a tool of racists, to homogenize people by 'race'. It simply isn't the way it works, classifying people by economic status is a much better way of classifying people with similar experience in my view.

You're justifying your inability to spend time with people of other races because of "shared experiences" with other white people? Buuuuuuuull-shiiiiiiiiiit. I've found that I have common ground with just about anyone in the world, just involves me trying to be a good human being and not being afraid of disagreeing or having conversation with people of differing view points. Most of my friends are worlds apart and it doesn't matter. Birds of a feather -- die together. (Whoa, that was way more ominous than intended.)

But I do agree, the banning, and fining of Donald Sterling is akin to punishing someone for thought crime. I don't understand how a comment made in private could be used in such a way. I don't agree with his racist views, or in your justified segregation, but I don't think it's a wise decision, nor a justified one, to punish anyone for having such views or even for expressing them in public, let alone private.

If you don't like someone's you have the right to ignore them and to NOT give them your money, and to convince others to shun that person. But that should NOT givbe any institution the right to go after anything in your estate.

Our justice system is a sham of personal opinion blurred into pseudo civil rights.

Anyway, people shouldn't be afraid to express their views, even if it's offensive to others.

Being stuck between political correct asshats AND conservative christian fuckbags is the real crime -- and I should be able to collect money from racist bigots AND the NAACP. (Just kidding.)

Skip the first four sentences, and he actually had a very good point. Research shows that humans have an in-built tendency towards in-group bias... and the trivia from the film is a brilliant example of this.

Understanding that we have such a bias is the only way we can avoid the worst effects of it.

It's funny how, exactly like in this video where the characters are ignoring the native American's point, the commenters here are ignoring it too, focusing only on the Sterling story.

I'm sorry, did you think all the animals in that movie were real? They were played by actors. Human actors. He's saying that all the actors who played gorillas sat together, all the actors who played orangutans, and so on.

Ha, actually haven't seen the movie but was thinking he was referring to actual animals they may have used in the movie and not actors. Well there ya go. Guess i should have looked at the link. Thanks for the head check.
