Cat tries to revive buddy hit by a car

There is a Happy channel, but no Sad one...

Dear sifters, if you see me lying in the road injured, having been hit by a car. Please do not knead my battered body and internal organs by walking on me, as I think this would hurt a bit.

Saw the thumbnail. Can't bring myself to click 'play'.

It brings a good hearty cry as if you are a 16 year old girl that's just been stood up for prom by Biff Stanlington...what a hunk, but he still has no right to treat you that way. Where is he? Why didn't he pick you up? Because he didn't have the heart to tell you that he brought your best friend instead, that's why.

^From what I've read, kneading is something kittens do to their mothers when they are thirsty for milk. When they get older, the kneading becomes a sign of affection. IMO, the title is completely accurate.

Cats do different types of kneading. One is definitely sexual, and typically involves all 4 paws. The other is the front paw kneading usually combined with a nuzzling which is the kitten-milk instinct.

Regardless of what this cat was doing, though, I think we can all agreed it was just plain sad.

Spay and neuter your pets and avoid puppy and kitten mills. This wouldn't happen if there wasn't an extreme abundance of stray cats and dogs dumped by owners who like puppies and kittens and get rid of them after the cute stage has come and gone.

My parents inherited some property when my grandma passed, where she used to live before she became to frail to live alone. There was a stray cat explosion there around the time she moved out of the house. Still had to maintain the place, and you'd see upwards of 20 stray cats at times. There were maybe two houses there who were guilty of buying/taking in animals they didn't properly care for. Since you can get in trouble with dogs more easily than cats, these same people tended to keep them locked in their yards slowly starving and dehydrating them. The cats roamed free, bred like crazy. People generally try to keep them fed, but it's roughly 50-75 bucks a cat to get them checked for feline leukemia and then neutered/spayed... and roughly the same if they test positive for feline leukemia and have to be put down because they'll kill all the other cats eventually if returned. And it seems like an injustice to capture them and have them all put down when they aren't hurting anyone or attacking people's pets.

Only thing that can help the problem is stricter laws on pet owners, because allowing people to continually take in/buy/adopt pets and slowly torture them to death via extreme heat/cold/lack of food/water/no vaccinations/medical treatment is not being punished severely enough to stop it. It's just too wrong to see it happen and know the law won't punish them enough to deter others.

You may all joke, but to me, I was moved by this action of companionship. Nothing spoke of the sadness the white cat had for their friend, as was shown there. Trying anything and everything to revive the tuxedo cat.

Wouldn't you want someone that goes exceptional distances, when your in pain, suffering, or dying?

People fucking do that? Well, people leave their cats outside, de-clawed.

A couple days ago I walked outside, saw this well groomed cat. I walked right up to it, and said, "What the fuck are you doing outside?" It mewed at me. I was about to take it home when I saw the tag with a phone number. When I called the owner of the cat, they didn't speak a lick of English and never even heard of the damned cat.

Happens a lot with people who don't ask any questions about dog/cat temperaments/sizes and buy whatever they think is cute. Then they end up with a really big dog, or a siamese cat that bites their kids when they "play" with it. Tons of people moved off and left pets when they lost their houses, just left them wherever..in the yard..locked in the house...out in the neighborhood. I'd imagine people would abandon their children, but they might end up in jail if they did that.

I understand people make mistakes and end up with kids (although a lot just dont bother trying to prevent it), but it's a choice to take in a pet. Government has programs to let people give up their children if they can't deal with it, but when it comes to pets there's very little past animal control and they only really come out over violent animals. So, I think the law should pick up the slack and bust down people who take in pets and don't do right by them. Dog fighting rings are one of the more popular things the news focuses on, but there are a lot of dogs just simply being starved to death.

Parents adopted a german shephard who was maybe 2-3 years old, people have him in their back yard chained to a tree with a massive chain wrapped around to where he barely had 5 feet of slack. The collar was too tight and digging into his flesh. They threw garbage out there with him, he'd eat what he could of it...and of course it had cans/glass/whatever else in it. They rarely gave him water, my parents were secretly feeding/watering him during the summer while they tried to get someone with authority to remove him to come out. When they finally did come out, they said since he had food and water..he was considered cared for...the stuff my parents had put out. So they had to just talk the owners of the dog into giving him up. He's about 8 years old now, has had heart worms and problems associated with that and lots of messed up teeth due to his early years, and has what I'd call abandonment issues but those could be related to him getting older and not hearing/seeing as well...he just doesn't like to be alone. But it pisses me off still knowing that he has spent the rest of his life suffering from what those people did to him. Yes his life is better, and he probably wouldn't have lived as long if they had decided to keep him but it wasn't the first or the last animal they had before moving off.

Strays aren't nearly as helpless as a dog in that situation. Although I know a lot of people take it upon themselves to aim for animals crossing streets while driving their cars...and leaving out poisoned food and water. Was some news stories of a guy catching strays and feeding them anti-freeze...which basically kills your kidneys and you die of kidney failure in all it's glory....slow and painful.

This is the saddest thing I have ever seen, and to those of you making fun of this tragedy, you have no soul, and should be ashamed of yourselves. Where is your compassion??

Some of us deal with negative emotions by finding humor in them. When one of my closest friends was killed in a car accident almost 5 years ago, I made lots of jokes about or involving him. I miss him horribly, even now, and I still get a little teary when I see the wife he left behind.

Sorry I'm not exactly like you, douchebag.

xxovercastxxsays...

I've heard cats grieve especially hard. Other animals will display this type of behavior, too. Raccoons, skunks and opossum are well known for trying to 'rescue' others who have been hit on the road. Deer will sometimes wait around when one gets hit. Dogs will also try to drag another dog off the road if it's been hit.

Unfortunately, this behavior usually just ends up causing more animals to be hit.

Believe it or not, apparently the tuxedo cat survived. Not only that, according to the vet that worked on the cat, the tuxedo survived because of the additional body heat and forced circulation from the kneading. Will try to post more on the story for you guys in a bit.

EDIT: Apparently the kneading kept the tuxedo cat alive, but after the onlookers were able to get the her to the vet she died sometime after. I made myself sad again.

Don't worry, yxxovercastxx, you will mature in time. Perhaps by then you will react to a situation of that type like the rest of the adult/mature world, and maybe even get past name calling like an 8 year old.

xxovercastxxsays...

You don't get to lecture me about maturity if an injured cat is the saddest thing you've ever seen.

Maybe you prefer to repress your emotions but other people prefer to find ways to deal with them; sometimes odd ways. It doesn't make them soulless or shameful.

Jesus, the merciful, loving, caring, compassionate Lord that he is, would never let such suffering exist in this world. Besides murder, auto accidents, cancer, heart failure, malaria, aids, starvation, exposure, war... etc. Such things obviously only exist because of non-believers and their pact with Satan. It's their fault. Though I still don't get how Satan somehow does bad shit and keeps countering the work of the freaking universal creator.. when Satan himself was supposedly created by God. Oh well. I guess it isn't suppose to make sense. Just believe in it. I should stop asking questions already. Those be Satan's methods.
