NaMeCaFsays...Could see that was going to happen right from the start. I'd say that pilot is out of a job.
newtboysays...Not clear from the lengthy Yt description, but it seems likely he was not fired. Even recent articles had no follow-up information, sadly. This happened in 2012

oritteroposays...The complete NTSB accident report can be found at http://tiny.cc/helichop
They didn't place all of the blame on the landing pilot, a significant contributing factor was the second helicopter being out of position. That might not have mattered on another day but the landing pilot didn't have good visibility.

Drachen_Jagersays...Technically you almost always die on the ground (or water).
As they say, it's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the end.
Sagemindsays...The units land on marks. Unit number one was way off his mark, while unit number two landed right on his. I'd say fault lays with unit number one.
Ashenkasesays...This is the final NTSB report:

siftbotsays...Moving this video to bremnet's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.
antsays...*wings *wtf
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Wings, Wtf) - requested by ant.
TheFreaksays...When I first saw the crash, it looked like that police helicopter was totally at fault and just fucked up that first copter without provocation.
It's good to see the incident in context with the preceding footage. Because that clearly shows the first copter was verbally assaulting the police copter and then was belligerent, resisted lawful orders and finally, got violent.
People are too quick to jump to conclusions when they see footage of a helicopter incident that's cut to make the police copter look bad. You have to see the whole story, people!
Paybacksays...BELL 206B LIVES MATTER!!!!

Paybacksays...That's an odd finding. On the video, it looks like the incoming pilot landed on an apron between two pads. Even if the departing helicopter was centered, that's still awfully close. Sudden gust of wind and it might have happened anyway.
Edit: Ok, I see how the layout is.

Seems a screwy setup, to be honest. I note the satellite image shows a chopper parked even worse than the first one in the video.
