Awesome Bullet Slow Motion Video

Some amazing slow motion video. Mesmerizing.
Friesiansays...

I started watching this thinking "yeah, I'll get the gist of it after a minute and go watch something else". The next thought I had, after "woah, cool", was "oh, 10 minutes is over already?".

After a bit I was like, 'ok, what about water?, paper? Glass? Hollow points?' and I got em one by one, then 'where's the shotgun?' and I got that too. I am satisfied.

p.s
Did anyone notice towards the beginning with metal that the high speed pointy rounds caused a spark just as they hit? Might be just me.

The blocks of material some people might not recognize is ballistic gel (used a lot on Mythbusters because it simulates flesh). 4:55-6:18 (are those the shots you were referring to MilkmanDan?)

I think the ball striking the shot mid-flight was from a shotgun, they probably had to do hundreds or thousands of shots to get those few where there was an impact.

The main thing I was thinking, especially towards the end with all the rifle shots hitting steel where the bullet core completely disintegrates was, "I really hope they wore respirators." That amount of lead in the air cannot be good for you.

Wow, wow, wow. This is the most amazing slow motion video I've ever seen. Didn't know cameras could do this yet. This is real bullet time.

From ^schmawy's link:
"Werner employs digital cameras that record up to 1 million frames per second, with effective shutter speeds as fast as 1.5 nano-seconds."

Mythbusters needs to get a pair of these ASAP

Paybacksays...

What really blew me away was the ability to slow down the propagation of the glass cracks. Those happen about as close to "instantly" as you can get without breaking a physical law or two.

ps. Hyperbole, but not very much.
