They're out there!!!
RFlaggsays...

Got me by 42 minutes... LOL... Australia used to be very high on my list of places to live when I was a kid (loved Koalas and Kangaroos)... until Crocodile Hunter taught me that every single deadly creature in the world (insects, snakes, spiders...) seem to live there... still not high on the list due to censorship issues regarding games and movies... in the end it became more and more New Zealand as the place to go if I was to move down south... and then the LotR movies came out and that solidified NZ... still the impossibility of moving out of the US makes that an impossible dream...

chingalerasays...

Don't fret there RFlagg, what seems impossible now may become within your grasp should the shit get real bad around the US. Probably not gonna happen for a few years so pick an isle, pick a country....Expatriation will become increasingly more popular with everyone else on the planet and I'm sure you could perhaps switch seats with someone....

Personally, I've got my eyes set on a volcanic island somewhere in the Caribbean Sea.

As a fellow Aussie I think this is hilarious.

Although, I have come across, in the wild:
Tiger snakes
Copperhead snakes
Scorpions
Red back spiders
Funnelweb spiders
Whitetail spiders (These give nasty fricken bites)
Huntsman spiders (These don't hurt you, but get damn big)
um...

Oh, and by wild, for the spiders, I mean in my house.

Wombats? Lots of those, they can hurt if they bite you.... but they're so cute.

Um... a gazillion bloody possums, but yeah, not the most dangerous of animals

So, um, yeah, I'm a real hardnut...

ahem.

Turns out this is untrue

No, it's untrue that the bite gives you gang green, which is widely believed. But they still give nasty fricken bites.

And they don't keep themselves to webs, the little fuckers, they wander around everywhere. I think they're my most disliked spider. I kill them and redbacks on sight.

Huntsmans, funnelwebs, other spiders I just catch and release outside (not that I've had a funnelweb inside mind you).

I'm trying to get myself to be fine with handling huntsmans just in my hands, but my issue with them is they're fricken quick and I hate it when they run into my clothing or other part of my body I don't want them.

If they were slower I'd have no issue picking them up.

ChaosEnginesays...

Nothing I have ever done has come close to the sheer unadulterated terror I felt when I went for a walk in the northern territory.

This wasn't some kind of hardcore Bear Grylls style bush walk either. It was a 30 min ramble along a path in a national park with a difficulty that the average toddler would find easy.

Halfway along the path it comes close to a river with a sign casually pointing out that there might be crocodiles, so ya know, try not to get eaten. And hey whadyaknow? There's a bloody great saltwater living-f#$king-dinosaur about 10m from the path, sunning itself on the river bank.

I've done my share of adventure activities and had one or two times when I feared for my life, but this was the only time I was genuinely concerned that I would be eaten.

No-one should live in australia.

Oh, i thought you were referring to the necrosis myth of White Tails. And yeah, those little bastards are everywhere.

Good luck trying to capture and release a male funnel web during mating season My recommendation: bird shot.

As one of the few resident aussies here, and being able to understand the language spoken in this vid, id just like to point out for the record, hes saying 'cunt', not nut......

...so yeah......cunt...

NaMeCaFsays...

I dunno. I wouldn't quite rule out the necrosis thing as a 'myth' just yet.

While not all white tale bites will result in it, it may be just one particular species. Or it could be a reaction only certain members of the population experience. The only scientific study done that said the bites dont result in necrosis was of a rather small sub-sample of bites (130 according to wikipedia).

That's why I kill the fuckers on sight. I'm not going to risk that shit on the off-chance that it could result in some dead, infected flesh.
