Dramatic prairie dog had heaps of cultural significance - from a certain point of view. But maybe we are casting our net a bit wider these days.

There's no shame in embracing a bit of low-culture. Makes the rest seems a bit more rarefied.

OK, i get it. Not everyone likes to watch videos of kittehs barking and puppies meowing. Then again, not everyone wants to watch "intellectually stimulating" videos and discuss it's merits.

As irritating as lolcats can be....the condescending tone of this post makes me .

This post made me curious about @jonny's "cultural" contributions to Videosift.
His highest rated video aptly sums up my thoughts:

I've been around for a long long time. And yes, there used to be a lot more science videos with great comments illuminating the video content.

We still see those vids, but not as often.

I don't think that there is anything condescending about stating the truth.

The Sift is still a great place. It has changed some. That is all.

By coming back with a sense of humor you have shown yourself to be a shining light of the great community here.

We're the reddit to their 9gag. We basically like the same stuff, but we're smug about it.

I am sorry I misunderstood the meaning behind your post. I do get defensive...especially when I feel my peeps are in the crosshairs. I know that was not your intention and hope you will believe me when I blame my kitteh for making me post the reply.
