YouTube Problems Anyone? (videos stopping eary)
For the past several days YouTube videos have been randomly stopping 10-30 seconds before the end of the actual video. By stopping, I mean it hits a spot 10-30 with 10-30 seconds of video left and just jumps to the end. If I drag the slider back to a point just before it stopped, it will stop at that exact point again. I have to find the exact time it stops and drag the slider 1 second past that point to see the end of the video.
I saw Ant's post below about HTML5, but I just checked and it's using flash. I enabled HTML5, so maybe that will fix it maybe it wont. I remember this happening before and I don't remember if I did anything to fix it or if it just went away on its own.

Yes, this happened to me once last night.
For me it seems to happen only while watching in HD, if I lower the resolution to 480p the remainder of the video loads fine.
Has happened to me a few times in the last couple of weeks here on the sift, watching them on Youtube is fine when it happens though.
I keep getting random and persistent: "An error occurred. Please try again later."

Let us know what happens "later"
Yup, I'm getting this exact issue

Is anyone having this issue outside of the Sift?
Been happening to me the past couple of days over and over again via YouTube.com when using different machines. I believe in most all cases I was in 1080p mode.
Definitely an issue on their end.
Yep here too. Not all the time. They've had a few other weird glitches like commenting not working.
YouTube went to shit about a year ago. I don't know what changes they made, but now:
-videos default to 1080p when available, and they never cache correctly and play through; I have to manually change it down to 480p to get a decent stream that doesn't empty the buffer.
-only certain videos will buffer the entire video; most will only buffer a few extra seconds, then stop. Only pushing play gets the stream downloading again. This leads to it either 1) stopping because I'm not actively playing it, or 2) stopping because the buffer runs out.
-it restarts the stream if I click on fullscreen or minimizing it back down.
None of these problems used to happen. I know it's free, but it's the internet version of New Coke now.
(Note: this is not VS related; this happens on directly on YT as well as VS.)

I have to agree with those sentiments ^. They have been making some really poor user experience decisions - my least favourite is the switching automatically to 1080p when going full screen.
For the past few hours I've been trying to get the embed codes to fix my dead video and submit a couple of new videos BUT the function is stuck on "loading" [and it never does load]. I get the loading message on my mail page, so I can't access personal messages or comments AND my playlists/history links are stuck on loading as well.
I ran a complete computer scan and restarted my laptop to no avail ... grrrrrr
Stoopid YouTube =o(
Off to bed ... g'day
YouTube was having problems the last few days. I assume it was related to the east coast's disaster. But yeah I hate the buffering problems. I still prefer to watch videos locally and not streaming!!!
