Almost forgot to mention, the invocation is [star]nominate.

I implore someone to save this so I can nominate it all 5 times...

I thought my platinum star was above those gold ones... and I dunno about this "Top Hundred" thing when the whole purpose here is for voting up the best videos... except surely Mr. Jake and his ukelele wont win the top spot, which I for one applaud.

Am hoping this will highlight videos created by ordinary users...

Does this mean that it won't be voting, with a vid getting an accumulation of nominations? Once person A nominates a video, person B can't?

After we have all the nominations, there will be a round of voting to narrow down the nominations to the top 100, and rank them accordingly.

You're probably thinking, "well, why don't we just give it to Mr. Ukelele and go home." But that's not really fair. He's been on since February and has had a long time to accumulate votes. This will put all the nominations on an even footing, and allow us to double sift the best of the best.

When we have the top 100, We're going to display them, ranked - in a different format than regular Sifts - and make a big noise about it. This could mean a largish amount of press for these videos, (and for us ;-) ).

We want to make this a yearly event - someday we might even have real awards.

What about some fun categories too? Like comment of the year? Or Troll of the year? Submitter of the year? Basic stat stuff that you could pull from the system... I must admit I love stuff like that

That's a good idea. Maybe we could do that more informally in Sift Talk, reach a consensus and put them up with the others. I'll make a note, and we'll do that a bit closer to the end.

Haha, "Goldstars only"... Suck it Diamond Dag and DotDude! That will teach you to race on ahead of the rest of us.

Can you submit a video you submitted? (I'm asking because of one I submitted shot through the roof (My client wants) and I think that qualifies as one of the top 100.

I can also imagine a Top 100 Too Cute Award Catagory...

And the award for cutiest video on the net is... ;-)

I totally agree with DeputyDog! We need a list to see what the videos nominate are so far

I can't wait for this to finish. I think it will be totally awesome to see the best videos of 2006.

I don't think we're going to put up the nominations list yet. We want it to be part of the fun, when we launch this project. We'll have a page for the winners and a page for the nominations.

It's all very exciting.
