Dag is Famous!

Our very own founder, Dag (aka. Brian Houston) and VideoSift is mentioned in a short write-up over at BrainMates. What you'll find even more interesting there is the streaming audio interview Qantas Radio conducted with Dag. Transcripts are even available from Talking Business with Peter Switzer for those of you who don't understand any English.

What do you guys think of this interview with the Sift God of Sift Gods? Does Dag sound as you had imagined? I have to say I was surprised by the timber in his voice and his sort of sharp, succinct manner of speech. To me, he sounds a little like a politician. ;-P He seems to have even absorbed a bit of an Aussie accent, mate.

As a side note, I don't know why the interviewer says the Sift gets 700k page views a month; we're well above double or even triple that number.

Thanks all, I've been told I have a good face for radio too.

This interview is a couple months old, or else I would have focused more on Collectives.

I was pretty nervous - definitely out of my geeky comfort zone. They just put you in this little sound booth in a comfy armchair and go, no practice or anything.

It's true that even though Lucky, James and I are partners - we've never actually heard each others voices. It's been kind of a tradition. Now that it's broken though - we've decided to have our first voice conference.

edit: For the technology channel thing, I meant the "geek" channel, but I didn't want to use the term "geek" because the last time I did that in an interview, the word was used repetitively in an annoying way.

Actually, I think James called Lucky once, when the server blew up.

I'll fess up - I think it's me. I have a bit of a phone phobia, I honestly don't like using the phone. :-( It's so much nicer to be able to think about what you communicate, before you do it.

Boy, you said it brother. I'm not a huge fan of all this on-the-spot communication where your words are transmitted without the chance to proofread them. It's overrated.
James hasn't called me on the phone. Once when he was testing out his GTalk's voice communication he left me a gmail voicemail, but I dodged that bullet and think it's the closest we three've ever come to actually... *gulp* speaking.

As a former commercial DJ myself I think you did a great job. Most stuff we did in house was always live in the studio, only the big name artists would have us pre-record our interview. Very nice job promoting the site and 90% of the people I've interviewed have sounded more nervous than you. I've since gone from commercial broadcast radio to internet radio and would like to grab Dag for an interview.
