Cooking Channel Contest

In the spirit of recent non-participation on the new Videosift 5.0 (post more videos people!) and, as threatened, chingalera formerly choggie is concocting a little cooking contest.

The last contest I crafted prior to being banned again by egos now strangely absent or non-participatory was greeted with much fanfare but very few played and I ended up winning my own contest!!

The prize was a charter membership and a T-Shirt. My charter ran out abruptly when banned yet again, and the T-shirt rests folded in the bottom of a drawer (non-mothballed) folded and unworn....which brings us to the contest:

Instead of turning you chair-potatoes into videographers, we'd like recipes. Interested contestants will submit a recipe they think worthy and I shall chose three of them randomly and prepare them according to instructions, making a video of the process (perhaps I shall even edit it!) The winning dish shall be judged by a qualified third-party.

Enter the contest by submitting in a P.M. to my profile, a recipe using these guidelines:

~No desserts.

~You have to have eaten or sampled the same fare prepared according to the same recipe.

~No EPIC mealtime-type recipes (i.e. 20lbs of bacon, gallon of maple syrup, etc.) I'm poor and can't afford to waste food on gastric abortions.

The prevailing contestant will win the coveted T-shirt and 25 power points doled-out as fast as chingachoggie can resurrect deadpool videos.

Let chingalera cook for you! Then, watch him eat that which he's prepared in front of you, while you wear a tacky shirt!!

Entries must be in in before the doomsday ticker on the toppa this post runs out. Preparation begins after I recover form the New Year's festivities, earthquakes, floods, worldwide panic as Niburu passes and fucks up gravity, etc.

Holiday recipes welcome, may be your last.

That carbonera recipe looks great, use it as your submission and if you are the only one to play this little game you may win by default, innit? Now you have to go find the guy's recipe...although his tutorial is pretty straight-forward to anyone with rudimentary kitchen chemistry skills.

Better odds than any lottery....

SO here's a taste of the first entry submitted by a stellar fixture and long-winded SO-Cal so-called here, dytopianfurtdy:
Eggadilla - an original dft creation

You will need:

-2 Corn Tortillas (get good tortillas from a mexican market)

-1 Egg

-Oil (I used olive oil, but veggie or canola should work fine)

-Pepper Jack Cheese (Use other types of cheese if you like)

-Cajun Seasoning - I used “Slap Ya Mama” seasoning - which is a mix of salt, red pepper, white pepper and garlic. Improvise if you need to.

-Mayo - You can leave this out if you are trying to be healthy

-Gochugang Sauce - This is a mix of pepper paste, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce and honey. Mix to taste, put it in a squeeze bottle in the fridge and it will taste delicious on just about anything. Formal recipe here: http://www.luluz.net/articles/eat/gochujang-sauce-for-bibimbap/

DOn't feel bad if you can't cook, your parents raised you so feel free to blame them for your developmental disabilities, of which there are no-doubt tomes on the subject that remain unwritten (That goes double for you, Miss, low-sugar buttery cinnamon toast woman...I'm kidding, your offering sounds delicious.....you may be one of 2 entries which puts you well ahead of 3282 other Hot-Pocket-eaters around heyah!)

Less than 3.5 days to go to submit entries and it looks as if, dystopiafurtdedyyy is poised to become a winner of this contest by default.

As Homer Simpson once said...."Default? Woo hoo! The two sweetest words in the English language: De-fault! De-fault! De-fault!

Final Update:

There are 3 contestants for our recipe contest, one by the way which was butt-stupid easy to enter and win, so reflects the confidence of our trio of takers, pumpkinandstorm, dystopianfuturetoday, and sheppard.

P&S has offered-up another recipe which I chose over the one already listed here:
To follow are the 3 recipes I shall replicate and somewhat summarily present for judgement to a neutral third-party judge, whose culinary judgement I trust impeccably due his years of discipline and dedication to all things gustatory. Plus, he's brutally honest, like I aspire to be.

And Last-minute 'n not a second to spare, sheppard and this fastidious bachelor-esque gem: Chicken-Mushroom SS w/ P

You'll need 4 boneless / skinless chicken breasts, a can of cambells mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, sugar, and parmesan cheese (grated)

Chicken breasts are easy, just heat up a skillet / pan and cook them with a couple tablespoons of canola oil (make sure to brown them on either side, and save the drippings)

Take your potatoes, wash em, and slice them as thin / thick as you want (thicker makes the cooking time longer) width wise (so you end up with potato circles) Place on a baking sheet and on each potato place a small amount of butter and sprinkle parmesan cheese over the batch. Cook them for ~45 minutes at ~425 degrees.

Start off cooking the soup normally, (however, use milk instead of water as the can instructs) and once it's at a rapid boil, add 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, and 1.5 tablespoons of parmesan cheese. Make sure to mix well, and once the chicken is fully cooked / browned, pour this over and mix it with the drippings / oil from the chicken.

chingalera says...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL-i shall begin doling-out power-points to all three contestants, per my Cocksure Fastdraw awards structure which has me beholden to each for 25 power points. First place however, receives the coveted pre-owned and never-worn Videosift T-shirt originally won by choggie in a contest of hi own design......Sort of like a, "What if there was a party and nobody came." kind of contest.

Results and Video after New Years, shall we saaaay, Sunday, January 6th??

MERRY XMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR
