Should Main Sift Talk Posts be VideoSift Related Content?
In the sidebar it says "Sift Talk is a discussion area for our members. Feel free to post and respond to issues about VideoSift, our community, or online videos in the news." In the past, we have moved discussions that don't meet this criteria to appropriate channel talks. This takes a bit of policing and can cause some butt hurting.

i recently posted an blog concerning 9/11 conspiracies in reaction to all the 9/11 conspiracy videos being posted.
should i have linked those videos?
now i feel i broke a rule or something.
my apologies dag and co.
Interesting.
I'll have to think about it.
On the one hand--I've seen some good thing here that I wouldn't have other wise. On the other--I can see that important trees could get lost in the forest.
Ummm.
I voted to move them to channel talk posts, though I feel there's always wiggle room.
Okay, I vote to move them.
Just because a noob like me might not see something is not reason enough to clog the page that should be for Videosift discussions.
Anything important could still be moved here if it concerns VS.
I disagree and think it is a step backwards. What is the big deal about going back a page or two if you have been away for a week or so ?
People do not look at channel talks, they click on "sift talk" and go from there.
I agree with boneremake. There'd be more interesting stuff to see (ST is low traffic anyway) and even a long-time sifter like me will miss channel posts.
You could colour-code posts marked as strictly ST (with no other channel invocations) so they stand out.
It would definitely mix things up in a good way and more contributions would be seen. Basically a lot of posts are getting "pqueued" quite quickly.
If we say "No", then the sift talk will become the front page of all talks. Arguably, this is the most intuitive way of having it, and some people think it's like this already.
If we say "Yes", then we separate "random thing" from videosift related things, to highlight the stuff more related to the community.
I think, based on the amount of talk posts, that we can live with everything being on one page. In the longer run, we should probably refine the design of the talk page, so it can accommodate more content per area, but for now it's probably fine.
I'm fine with the current number of talk posts. However, I don't like seeing the really long ones which haven't made use of <snip> to shrink things down to the first few sentences or paragraphs - perhaps siftbot could take control here and auto snip long posts?

I am evenly split on this. On the one hand - it's nice to have a dedicated page for Sift related issues - on the other, I sometimes enjoy the discussions on the front of Sift Talk - and it is certainly the path of least resistance to allow free posting.
Either way - just define it.
Voting for this poll ended with the majority of users voting No, let Sifters post as they see fit.
Perhaps there could be a toggle to show main-siftnews/all-channel recent talk posts?
I assumed it was the central page for all sift talk, and have treated it so. I never go to channels for sift talk posts - why would you?

Okey-dokey then - so it shall be.
