She's in the passing lane going the same speed as the massive truck next to her in the travelling lane. And she thinks the guy who gave her the finger is the bigger asshole? Sigh.

I assume this is the States because her speedometer looks like it's in miles. What's the speed limit likely to be where they are? Any likely inferences? It's probably 50, yeah? Which would make her going under the limit in the passing lane.

Maurusays...

Be it as it may- there is still a certain entertainment value in some guy leaning out of a window to show someone the finger and then crashing his semi in the most embarassing way imaginable. The only thing more humilitiating would be if his tire had dropped off.

What are you taking about? You dont know what the speed limit is and she is driving over 55 mph.
You also dont know how that truck drove. It happens a lot that they drive too fast or start to accelerate when you are trying to pass them without going over the speed limit.

Plus you never know what happened before she started filming. I mean she could have been going moderately over the speed limit like the left lane should and then he still rode her ass. At that point I would also slow down and say fuck you for riding my ass. You can't bully your way on the road. If someone is going slow in the left lane deal with it like a normal person. You don't actually gain that much time by driving fast, especially in areas like this where there ares occasional lights.

Haha, regardless of whether you believe his rage was justified he's still the monkey that couldn't control his emotions or his pickup. What a foooool.

My fave trick to deal with this bullshit on the bike is to touch the brakes in such a way as the light comes on and the bike appears to dive without actually slowing me down. About 90% effective at making tailgaters shit themselves and drop back which combined with a little squirt of power to open the gap usually gets them to stay out of my life. (Maybe not as wise in a poxy car as you don't have the power to get away if you happen across the occasional indignant pshyco)

However there is a special place in hell for people who sit in the outside/passing lane when the inside is clear (which it clearly is in this case).

That said, truck driver totally deserved that. If he was prepared to undertake anyway then he should have just done so to start with instead of tailgating which is far more dangerous.....not to mention leaning out of your vehicle to give someone the finger when approaching a junction!

Justice served...but I suspect the lady's driving/road etiquette sucked here too (hard to say for sure without seeing how it all started, maybe she was just trolling an asshat for "good" reasons we didn't witness).

I get the rage being stuck behind slow lane hoggers too, but tailgating is almost always counter productive. If nothing else it tends to make people (myself included) slow down. Undertake swiftly and safely (if possible) or suck it up!

Crosswordssays...

She appears to be going about 60mph, and she is actively passing the other vehicles. I've seen varying reports that the posted speed limit is 45-50 (US 41 near Tampa Florida). Hard to know without knowing exactly where the incident took place on that road.

Given what we see in the video, she could have handled it better, but the guy was a massive douche. She shouldn't have to risk her safety, or violate the law (she may have already been speeding) to appease his impatience.

Some people seem to think being in the left lane entitles them to go as fast as they want, and anyone not going faster than them should immediately get out of their way.

Yes people should get over, regardless of speed (its not up to other drivers to enforce the speed-limits), if they can do so safely. However they shouldn't have to violate the law (i.e. speed), nor should they have to if they are passing slower moving vehicles at a decent rate (going 1/10th of a mph faster doesn't count). Also getting over should not entail you to cut-off the people in the right lane. And when you've got someone tail-gating you there's a good chance they'll try to zoom around you before you've gotten a safe distance in-front of the right lane traffic to get over (I've seen that happen a lot).

I don't give a shit what speed she was doing.

She's an idiot for a ) recording video on her phone while driving and b) recording it vertically. The finger was the least she deserved....

eric3579says...

He got what he deserved but she didn't. That annoyed me.

It would be awesome if the law tracked her down from her account and mailed her a big fat citation for operating her phone while driving or some similar thing(reckless driving)

newtboysays...

If only people were ticketed for refusing to yield right of way to faster traffic (ever see a 'slower traffic keep right' or 'left lane is for passing only' sign, the rule applies everywhere), there would be FAR less road rage.
This guy failed badly in many ways, but the woman filming was breaking at least 2 laws there, 1)using an electronic device while driving (and filming to boot, which took nearly 100% of her attention off driving) and 2) failing to yield to faster traffic.

Understand people, if you aren't a cop, it's not your job to police others. That means if someone is speeding behind you, move, don't break the law to try to force them to obey the law. More often than not, that ends in the wannabe 'police' being hurt or in trouble...rightly.
No winners here to me.

Januarisays...

Newt not sure why you think it is, but yielding to faster traffic in the left lane is most certainly not a law in every state.

"Uniform Vehicle Code, which says a car driving below the "normal speed of traffic" should be driven in the right-hand lane. Because it indicates "normal speed" instead of saying "speed limit" a driver going above the speed limit but slower than most traffic is still in the wrong."

is the guideline that slightly more than half the states in the US follow.

She is very reckless for devoting that much attention to recording it, but as she was already slightly exceeding the speed limit its unlikely she was breaking the law of failing to yield to faster traffic.
