It takes incredibly brave people to bomb schools, to use WP shells on civilian targets, to hold a gun and beat a man with a bag over his head at the same time.

But what can you say, the Israeli leadership are just following Bush's example...

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

Simple solution. Hamas - stop lobbing rockets into Isreal. Until they stop attacking then everything they get is their fault. Don't like getting clobbered by Isreal? Stop attacking them. Dur. Its a war, and you win wars by attacking populations. When your targets are a bunch of slimey, cowardly, no-good terrorists who hide among civilian populations then what do you think is going to happen? Vids like this are slanted, one sided, propogandist crap. Do you really think any person with two brain cells to rub together is taken in by this kind of Goebbel-esque presentation?

Silly me, I forgot that the good and courageous kill civilians and spread terror with warplanes, not rockets. Oh Israeli government, you're so hard to tell apart from Hamas these days. I have to count the death toll just to figure out who's who; American made bombs are much more efficient at murdering children.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

The whole point is that Israel has been attacked by rockets from these bozos for years. I'd say they've been remarkably patient and more than forebearing. So Hamas is whining because Isreal is responding with weapons that are much more effective than thiers. Well that's the risk you run when you deliberately provoke a superiour enemy. If you can't handle the response then you don't provoke it in the first place. Isreal wouldn't be doing anything if Hamas wasn't being a bunch of idiotic jackasses.

But the whole point is that Hamas wanted this to happen. They don't care that thier people are killed in the response. They expect it and - even worse - they DESIRE it. They set up operations in civilian zones with the expectation that there will be tertiary casualties. Then they run around with video cameras and send tapes to news outlets in the full expectation that useful idiots like the guy who made this vid will act like it was all Isreal's fault.

iauisays...

Oh, Winstonfield, always looking at the situation without taking into account any previous history. I don't care about religious bullshit, but if someone walled me and my family into a tiny prison, surrounded on all sides by Israeli military, and then forced my children to walk through militarized checkpoints to get to school I sure as shit would try to do something to stop them.

Remember, Hamas was ELECTED by the Palestinian people. They want Israel to stop the aggression as much as every decent person in this world. Please, Winstonfield, spare me your myopic one-sided crap. Yes, it sucks that there are people in Palestine who think violence is the answer. But it sucks even more when those with warplanes and bombs, those who are supposedly supposed to be civilized, choose violence as the answer.

You can bomb the world into pieces, but you can't bomb it into peace. What is happening right now is that, just like before, far more Palestinians are being 'recruited' by Israel into the extremist mindset. Just like Al Qaieda in Iraq, Hamas in Palestine is created by the aggression of the Israelis. Please, if you think one human life is greater than another, and you think that someone should be killed for defending their rights, you can fuck off, Winstonfield.

We will welcome you back to civilization when you show some. Until then, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

ponceleonsays...

Psssh...

I've said it before that both sides of this conflict are to blame because they are in actuality on the same side: religious idiocy.

As for this video: downvote because all it is is just more propagandist fuel. The music, the silly edits ("Obama is silent," followed by a shot of Obama not talking as if that proves something).

Obama is NOT IN OFFICE YET. Please shut the hell up about him until he's actually in power?

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

If someone walled me and my family into a tiny prison, surrounded on all sides by Israeli military, and then forced my children to walk through militarized checkpoints to get to school I sure as sh&& would try to do something to stop them.

And if you lived in a building and gangbangers in the building across the street were riddling your place with bullets I'm sure you'd 'try to stop them' too.

Your problem is that you want to have your rhetorical cake and eat it too. You want Isreal to act 'civilized' but you do not expect Hamas to do so. I myself am not fettered by such hypocritical double standards. I believe that if you attack a country with military force, then a military response is justified.

You admit Hamas was ELECTED. If so, Hamas needs to start acting like a grown-up, responsible, civilized government and not like a bunch of terrorist moron hotheads. Isreal was quite patient in the face of the violence. They finally responded. That's what happens when you pick violence as your 'tool' to achieve your objectives.

You can bomb the world into pieces, but you can't bomb it into peace.

Naive. Forced military peace is far more durable, long lasting, and effective than negotiated peace. That's what war is all about. Threatening your enemy with devastation so horrifying that they surrender unconditionally in order to avoid annihilation.

If you think one human life is greater than another, and you think that someone should be killed for defending their rights, you can f&&& off

I'd say that you are the one that seems to think that Isreali life is worth less than Palestinian life. You seem to be quite comfortable with Hamas killing Isreali civilians ad nauseum. Shame on you.

dead_tofusays...

10 israelis have been killid by hamas rockets the LAST 8 YRS!

1 out every 20 rockets makes the distance it takes to hit a settlement, does not land in a settlement, only gets the right distance.

Winstonfield, as long as you have never had passport, you shouldnt comment on things in foreign countries....

LordOderussays...

The Israelis and Hamas are both wrong. However, Hamas has killed a tiny number of people that have illegally settled on Palestinian land. The Israelis settlements force Palestinians out of their homes. Those who try and stay are locked up in what amount to concentration camps. Just watch this video to see how these "Horrible Palestinian terrorists" are treated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGLD1-ETehI

If foreign invaders took over your town and fenced you into your home, you might try and do something to get them out too.

I honestly hope that Israel keeps bombing UN hospitals and schools. They keep that shit up and eventually the UN is going to send troops to stop this holocaust. It's a shame that it only took 60 years for the Jews to forget the horrors they faced.

xxovercastxxsays...

Neither side should be supported; they are both despicable.

I do, from time to time, wonder who has 'rightful ownership' of that land.

If you accept the British Mandate as legit, then the Palestinians fired the first shot. It might be understandable that the Palestinians didn't like the influx of Jews at that time, but it was as legit as the British Mandate. The original Jewish settlers acquired their land by purchasing it, so they were settlers, not invaders. The Palestinians initiated the violence.

If you don't accept the British Mandate, then I don't know what to go on. In ancient times, Gaza was held by Egypt. It was conquered by the Philistines, then the Israelites, Assyrians, Egyptians, Greeks and Judeans. It was later incorporated into the Roman Empire, then later conquered by the Rashidun Empire. All of this before 640CE. Do we draw a line in time at which point conquest is no longer a valid form of obtaining land and grant rights to the occupants at that time? If not, then isn't what's happening now just conquest by the Jews?

In the end, I guess it doesn't matter. No matter what anyone thinks, these two sides will probably battle until one ceases to exist. The best we can probably hope for is that in a few more generations, the hate will have died down.

The US should not be supporting Israel in this fight. We shouldn't be supporting anyone. It's not our fight.

mrk871says...

I'd have to pretty much agree with everything you're saying. There's no right on either side, there's no entitlement as such, and perhaps it is only through complete conquest and domination of either side that the fighting will stop.
Somehow, though I doubt it.
Although maybe the Northern Ireland situation could be a reasonable model for peace.
I'm not religious myself, but it seems that they mostly resolved their differences through talking about what shared beliefs they do have in common.
I'm not saying that situation has completely healed, but with comparative economic prosperity and sharing of power and shared beliefs a lot of the wounds have healed.
Maybe some day in the distant future talks between leaders of two Abrahamic religions talking about what they do have in common could bring more peace to the area.
So sad that these groups of people kill each other because of some beliefs about the greater good.

r u serious? israel owns america, the u.s will allow palestine to die slowly, just like they have for decades. why the hell would obama change that?

MaxWildersays...

What the hell are we supporting Israel for anyway? Is that territory really so vital to American interests? I just don't get it.

It's pretty clear to me that the Israelis have gone mad. This is probably the best thing to happen to the Palestinian cause for decades. By the time the dust settles, they will have tons of political support, if not from governments then from individuals the world over who are watching the slaughter continue day after day. I know I didn't care much about it until now. And even though I know Hamas has done some horrible things, it's very clear to me that the Gaza strip needs to be rid of Israeli oppression.

Maybe the backlash from this will finally pave the way to real independence for the region.

Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about and it will just continue to get worse.

It has a lot more to do with not wanting to look anti-semitic. Jews control a lot of business, money and political power, and feel that anyone who is against Israel's actions is anti-Jew.

>> ^charliem:
Just relocate the state of Israel to somewhere in montana.
Dig up the wailing wall and bring it with..problem solved.

Better idea, blow up the wailing wall, temple mount, and every other worthless holy rock in the area. Neither side would want to be there if it wasn't the holy land.

It bothers me that the Israelis have become so much like the animals that nearly destroyed their people 60 years ago, on the basis of protecting their way of life.

Lolthiensays...

Gotta say I agree with Winston here. The only way for Israel to survive as an independent country in the middle east is with a BIG stick.

If French Canadians were lobbing rockets into New England for YEARS.. and the U.S. kept saying, "Stop it now, or we're going to have to do something about this..." and for YEARS nothing was done because the rocketmen were hiding in an old folks home or an orphanage. How many rockets would it take to bomb that building? The people there are obviously not eager to turn in the men with rockets, how would you tell friend from foe?

This is Israel's ONLY choice in dealing with this. It is ugly, it is horrible, and no one enjoys seeing children being killed. But someone please give me a reasonable suggestion on exactly how to stop these people? Eventually, if things get bad enough, anytime a civilian sees someone with a rocket launcher walking up the stairs, that person will know what's about to come down on his home and will beat the crap out of the guy, or report him to someone who will beat the crap out of him... but until you give them a reason to do such a thing, you cannot expect people in Gaza to do what is best for Israel just out of charity. For the longest time there was no downside to letting people lob rockets into Israel... now there is.

There are a lot of groups in the Middle East that want Israel wiped off the map, so Obama's campaign rhetoric is understandable. I certainly hope that he will come out in condemnation of Israel's actions once he takes office, although it's entirely possible he will only offer a mild rebuke so as not to anger the people to whom we gave so much advanced weaponry.

I do, however, think that it would be entirely inappropriate to come out in condemnation of Israel before he takes office, given that Bush so firmly supports Israel. He is very wise to respect the policy of only one president at a time, and even wiser to keep his mouth shut on controversial topics until he can actually do something about them.

joedirtsays...

^ false crap you heard from the media. What has Obama commented on since the election??? I know you don't want to know, but he certainly hasn't been holding his tongue or doing some "one president at a time" nonsense. He's commented plenty on other foreign affairs, he just doesn't want to tip his coward hand on this. Surprisingly he's already said his coward administration is not going to investigate any crimes by Bush, especially not torture, nor is he going to deal with Gitmo for months, if not years.

Palestinians aren't even a real people, there's no Palestinian culture or language. They're a fiction of scattered Arabs no other Arab nation will allow to immigrate, because they enjoy exploiting them as a thorn in Israel's side.

Give "Palestinians" the exact same resources and land as Israel and the former will use them to attack Israel. Hitler's dream lives on in the UN thugocracy and surrounding Arab nations. Israel is surrounded on all sides by enemies.

It is intellectually dishonest to compare one of the few free nations in the Middle East to an abused and abusive ragtag people more focused on Israeli genocide than their own well-being.

It clearly shows that you are jewish (and a racist one) just like obama. Simple is that! So barack obama (a similar name: ehud barack, former israeli prime minister) will tolerate and support all war crimes committed by his people...

Historically there is no israel and there are only "ragtag" jewish tribes, kicked out of many countries for their "antisocial bejaviour" (Egypt, Turkey etc).

BTW their religions are very similar and they are both semitic... The big difference is that the jews treat every non-jewish as a goy / "animal" (contrary to popular belief - can be verified by reading their holy books)... The biggest enemy of the jews is their racist religion.

13735says...

there's is a simpler solution
Israel should hand over West Bank to Jordan and Gaza to Egypt.
then when hamas begin attacking Israel again, it'll be Egypt's and Jordan's responsibility to pacify hamas.

No, they are human beings with a right to live without fear of having their front doors kicked in by a blitzkrieg raiding party, or having white phos. dumped on their heads.

The irony in this situation is disgustingly, and sadly lost on people of your ilk QM.
