antjokingly says...Is that how Siftbot plays?
chingalerasays...Pretty soulless innnit? Musical novelty for the 91st century
ChaosEnginesays...Yep.
Besides, I've had a machine that can flawlessly reproduce music for my entire life.
I'm far more interested in an AI that can write music

RedSkysays...I wonder if it would sound better with some intentional imperfections, say some off timing maybe an off note here and there. Same issue with perfect pitch, Auto-Tune voices.

worthwordssays...not a patch on john coltrane bot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjONQNUU8Fg
deathcowsays...yeah it's a novelty item but hey maybe some day apple will put some iSoul into it
EvilDeathBeesays..."People have often assumed for music to be emotionally powerful it has to come directly from a human hand, I disagree, and enjoy proving these people wrong."
Yeeeeah... what you've done here is prove them right.

rancorsays...Sounds like Dream Theater. BOOM!! Dream Theater slam!!
rancorsays...Also, reminds me of this stuff which has already been sifted (YouTube has a whole channel of Animusic):

spawnflaggersays...There have been many "unplayable by humans" compositions for the Player Piano dating back 100 years. IMHO, they sound very unnatural and not something I'd listen to more than once for a curiosity. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
That said, this robot band is way better than Chuck E' Cheese's. Add in a holographic singer, and would be a huge success in Japan.
chingalerasays...I dunno man, you listen to some of those insane compositions by Nancarrow and a few of them kinna suck you in-It helps to get into the mind of composer a bit, the guy might have been reclusive and maybe a touch autistic and you can maybe perform some interpretive dance (seizure) to his comps but I regard most music as novelty anyhow....
Check this one found recently along the same lines of attack-Impossible for one person to play alone, but I'll betcha two people side-by-side on the same piano could do it...

kir_mokumsays...i think most of you are missing the point that tom jenkinson is and has always been making, which is to pull complex and emotionally driven music from both man and machine by pushing both to extremes. to say it's "soulless" is to wear your confirmation bias and ignorance on your sleeve.

chingalerasays...Agreed, I know nothing of the composer and tend to critique music based upon personal preferences of sound, harmonics and vibration and where it affects me according to my own set of parameters.
