How To Repel Sea Lampreys

LL: A tubful of sea lampreys going berserk after being doused with a “semiochemical mixture produced by the putrefying carcasses of sea lampreys” being tested by Michigan State researchers as a potential sea lamprey repellant. The sea lamprey is native to the Atlantic Ocean, and because the Great Lakes are connected to the Atlantic, they have become anonnative species in the Great Lakes. Since the sea lamprey came to the GreatLakes, some native fish species are in danger of dying out, such as the laketrout.

Saw that on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. If you just spit into the water, they react the same way. (It's unclear, however, if the raw onions you had for lunch would amplify the intensity of their response.)

Sooo....the great lakes are going to reek of dead lamprey? Home many gallons of dead reeking lamprey sauce does it take ot make it an effective repellant in the great lakes?

...Watcha wagering?
>> ^KnivesOut:

I'd wager that if you poured the putrefied remains of dead humans onto a bunch of humans, you'd get the same reaction.

To be fair though, if a giant super-intelligent overlord pulled my roof up and dumped a decomposing corpse in, my reaction would be much the same.

edit: Dammit, someone beat me to it!
