How come baby jebus never gave an amputee his legs back, yet engineers seem to do it (with limitations obviously. It's not the same as the real thing, but they keep working on it, and improving it. With no magical powers)

Probably the best time to learn to walk/run on prosthetic limbs. As a little kid, you just intuitively soak up new things, your brain is like a sponge.
