When road rage goes terribly wrong

Chris Traber was driving on the 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita when he witnessed a dramatic road rage incident involving a motorcyclist and the driver of a sedan. He started recording as the incident escalated Police are investigating.

He stepped on the gas when he saw an accident happening and so it would not have been entirely undeserved. He could have stopped, same as the car ahead, if he wanted to be safe. Sigh drivers.

Saw an interview on the news with the guy in the white truck. Thought he was going to die. sigh *wheels

Lot of people in various places around the internet saying the driver definitely swerved into the bike on purpose, which i'm not gonna rule out. But i've known enough very timid/nervous drivers who have reacted bizarrely under pressure to not rule that out either.

Intent is important, yeah... but I dunno if I want to be on road with people that "react bizarrely", whether or not it is out of rage or nerves.

I wouldn't dare to place blame in this video, but I gotta say the biker is totally stupid for thinking that, on a rolling motorcycle at hwy speeds that you should elect to kick a moving car instead of tapping your brakes.

The biker was an idiot and the car driver was either incompetent or an asshole (likely both).

It might have been that the truck driver was simply trying to get around the accident. Stopping is not always the safest course.

Either way, the truck driver contributed nothing to the cause of this accident. Saying that he even partially deserved to die is going a bit far IMO.

I see a portion of deservedness there, though I would not go so far as to actually personally wish death as punishment upon the poor guy. But should something bad have happened to him by accident it would have come about in a small part because of his own wrong decision, thus not entirely undeservedly. I am glad he was lucky.

Stepping on the gas was just a bad reaction. Driving around the problem or slowing down is safer and more likely to succeed in scenarios where trouble unfolds ahead of you on the road. Accelerating through the scene of an accident increases risk for everyone involved.
