Varying Bullet Caliber Damage

An amiable Russian dude fires at water jugs point-blank with bullets of varying caliber in order to show the level of damage each one causes.

This is great. People have such warped ideas of guns from Hollywood mythmaking - though a lot of video games don't help either.

I've seen guys come into the range, fire a 9mm for a bit, then brag about how much better the Desert Eagle is. Then a range officer pulls one out and they realize that it's hard for them to hold it steady, let alone fire accurately. A .50 pistol sounds impressive only until you realize that you only have 7+1 rounds, you can't aim for shit, and the recoil is a bitch. As my favorite range officer put it: "Angelina Jolie [a la Tomb Raider] would have trouble carrying one in each hand, but somehow she is firing two on the run?"

Some movies are getting better, more accurately depicting the proper usage of a gun and actually showing reloads, but even my girlfriend starts laughing at some of the more blatant mistakes in action movies (The Green Hornet has some whoppers).

lol...I doubt an actual Russian guy would need to wear a CCCP shirt to be convincing...not to mention the terrible fake accent.

Also, watermelons would've been cooler and more informative.

I don't think that was a fake accent. It was consistent, and he wasn't using stupid Russian filler words. I'd say this is a real Russian who has been living in an English speaking country (probably the US) for several years. He's just proud of his heritage and has used it to brand his youtube channel. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not sure I understand the damage differential between the .38 and the .357. He mentioned that he was using target rounds for the .38 Special, and I assume a 'normal' round on the .357.

Does a 'normal' .357 round have the same amount of gunpowder as a .38 round? Seems like he's comparing apples to oranges, despite firing both fruits from the same gun.

Smugglarnsays...

That bothers me to no end. People seem to think that the Nazi swastika is terribly offensive, but somehow the Communist hammer and sickle aren't.

My guess is that if he wore that shirt in, say any Baltic country, he would be severely beaten, and rightly so.>> ^quantumushroom:

Why is he wearing a Russian swastika? Does he not know 60 million people were murdered by the hammer and sickle?

Deanosays...

Oh it does feel like he's putting that accent on - it's all over the place at times and sometimes the choice of words and sentences just feel like someone who's first language is English.

This is what I read and it cleared it up for me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/357_Magnum

What would this guy have to gain by faking a Russian accent? Anything? Does speaking with a Russian accent have some sort of cachet that I'm not aware of?

Besides, I checked the video on YouTube, and he has his Twitter URL listed in the information. I checked out his tweets and read this one he posted only 2 days ago:

"Do I have any subscribers in the Chicago area who would like to play paintball with me?"

Now, would he be asking the public at large to play paintball with him, in which you run around, shoot at people, get shot at, and get all sorts of adrenaline pumping through your system, AND make sure his Russian accent never slips while he's in the heat of a paintball battle? Because that would make him look bad to his fellow players, wouldn't it? And wouldn't that info immediately make it back to Twitter, making him look like a big fucking phony to everyone? And for what? Just so people will think that he's Russian?

Again, does speaking with a Russian accent have some sort of cachet that I'm not aware of?

???

Swastika smastika. I love swastikas. I wear them whenever I go out. Get with the times, gramps, kids of all ethnicities are over it. We listen to our ipods and discuss the relevance of important symbols in human society. We troll forums and bide our time before we can download our minds into computers, build a base on the moon, and enslave the human race.

Not really sure. He could just be doing it for a laugh. Or it's simply part of some ongoing shtick. He probably doesn't give a hoot either way.

The Russian accent is fake, He has been using the accent for a very long time as it is what got him famous on youtube for his Call of duty commentaries. He started off on Youtube a bit late when it came to doing call of duty commentaries so he had to do something stupid/crazy to get noticed, luckily for him it worked.
Most people who subscribe to him are aware of the fact his accent is fake as he does not try to hide it and tells people quite often. This is one of his older videos where his did a dual commentary with himself as both FPSrussia and FPSkyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyBGXQDStk4
When he does live commentaries over skype with other youtube members or public events like the paintball he uses his normal voice.
