Undocumented Immigrant Who Works in a Trump Hotel Speaks Out

This is a profile of Ricardo Aca, a young undocumented immigrant who works in a Trump Hotel and who has decided to speak out against Trump's comments about Mexican immigrants. As Trump continues to showcase horrible examples of crime from immigrants, it's time we shift the focus to the vast majority of immigrants who work hard and want nothing more than a shot at the American Dream. -yt

Well, frick. Now I am worried about him and his entire family. They are all here illegally, is that what he said? He is undocumented?

I applaud his bravery. I hope he doesn't pay a huge price for it.

Frick.

So, according to Trump himself, Trump properties are staffed by criminal drug dealing rapists? Good to know, I'll stay out of all of them from now on...for safety.

articiansays...

I don't think they're all here illegally any more. They probably got their citizenship sometime in the last decade that they've been here. I don't think he would have spoken out if his entire family risked being deported, but I'm pretty certain he'll lose his job there. From what it sounds like though, he's offering that up in exchange for spreading his message, so much respect for him.
He said he had two other jobs anyways. Good for him, and for anyone who speaks out against overwhelming ignorance.

I hope so. He does say at the beginning that he "is" an undocumented alien, not "was."

Please oh please let that be true. That he and his family are safe.

"He described himself as an undocumented immigrant who came here at age 14. But in the video he did not say that he has documents that enable him to remain in the country legally. He was part of a wave of immigrants who came to the United States as children who have been granted deportation deferrals and work permits under a 2012 program."

and

Asked why he defined himself as undocumented in the video, Mr. Aca explained his legal uncertainty.

“I’m in the deferred action program, which I have to renew every two years,” he said. “I consider myself an undocumented immigrant still because it could just be taken away from me at any time.”

Seems like a good fella.

Breaking the law is breaking the law.

Evey job an illegal has is 1 less for a needing American.

You can go back to Mexico and take do your thing there. Fight fro a better Mexico.

Trump is mostly right on this issue.

Sadly our Government have used this issue for 30+ years for their own political convenience. Good people like this man will get caught in the middle when the music stops.

I'm trying to picture a scenario where someone who is homeless or on unemployment or public assistance has been coveting some of the jobs that might be freed up if there was a mass deportation.

"THEY take OUR jobs" fits real nice on a bumper sticker. I'm not being dismissive, if you have links to anything that bolsters the "one less illegal, one more employed American" argument I'm anxious to start reading something deeper than protest signs.

The ones you speak of by you own words "on unemployment or public assistance" are taking this government cheese in which could go for a needing American family.

Why does sift tolerate these trolls? I never got it. Its a shame, really. I know you need to be careful of banning people for 'expressing an opinion", but this is 2015. We can all readily identify trolls, they shouldn't have a place in an otherwise respectable community.

I know it's a fool's errand, but I'm searching for the logic in your statement.

An American Citizen taking unemployment or public assistance is just "taking this government cheese" which should instead be given to a needy, American family?

So if you take public assistance (because you qualify for it and therefore need it), you are not deserving of it. Instead, all the "government cheese" should be save for those that both need and deserve it?

WTF are you talking about???

Remember kids, if you had the skill and determination to be born in America then you have earned the right for a job!

ps. fuck those entitled welfare leeches taking all our work!

It's certainly a complex economic issue that I won't pretend to have any deep understanding of, I just think the jingoism stinks something awful.

I recall some right wing lunatic in the last election offering $100 an hour to any white U.S. citizen willing to take an immigrant's picking job in the field...and they had no takers.

Our country has a long history of immigrants taking the lowest paying menial jobs that no one else wants. The problem is that we have not updated our immigration laws to make it easier for people to come here legally. We also have. in some cases, fought to make these laws more restrictive towards immigrants.

I have no problem with immigrants taking low paying jobs. There is no way I am ever working for minimum wage again. Nor will I work menial labor. If they want those jobs, more power to them.

My problem is that because we have made it extremely hard to immigrate, we have illegal immigrants coming here. Illegal immigrants are outside of the system for the most part. They generally do not pay taxes other than sales tax, they use emergency care services that they cannot pay for because they cannot join healthcare plans, and their children use services that are being paid for by other taxpayers. These things put a drain on the system and that is my only real concern.

Personally, I have come to feel we should simply grant amnesty for any immigrant who can prove they are not a threat to society. I live in Texas, in a neighborhood that is predominantly surrounded by Latino people. My house has never been broken into, I have never been threatened by a Latino person, and my Wife and dogs have never been accosted by Latino's when she walks around the area. I have friends that live in Caucasian areas that have had the complete opposite experience...from other Caucasians.

If we give these people, who mostly just want to work hard for their families, a chance to join the system, then we can all benefit.

American and illegal aliens are not the same.
