Track Coach Fired After Refusing To Make Athletes Wear Masks

New Hampshire high school track and field coach refuses to make athletes wear masks outdoors, gets the sack. For reference, here's what the World Health Organization says:

Q: Can people wear masks while exercising?
A: People should NOT wear masks when exercising as masks may reduce the ability to breathe comfortably.

I don't know what the competition rules are, usually you want to train the way you'll compete, even if it kills you. New Hampshire does have a mask mandate for "public spaces, indoor and outdoor", although it has an exemption for "strenuous physical activity".

Good for him on standing up to dumb assery... Masks are overrated unless you are in close proximity to others for extended periods of time... I've not wore one outdoors for the entirety of this pandemic and have yet to contract the virus... I'm a fan of theme parks and I'm not going back until there are no mask requirements, but its hot here in FL during the summer and fuck all that... I got vaccinated, that should be enough.

Masks aren't to protect you from others, they're to protect others from you.

We are about the worst country in the world ATM but not for lack of stupid regulations.

Wearing masks in closed spaces where you meet strangers is obviously good while not 100% effective. Same goes for large groups, packed, for prolonged time outside.

The jury is still out on what "being vaccinated" or "having antibodies" means exactly for the spread of the disease.

Outside in team groups when not running, not socially distanced, and it's state law. Masks required.

Edit: I would agree about wearing them during events if they weren't in close contact during the events, breathing hard and exhaling spit, but they are.

Firing the coach is correct, taking the law into his own hands and putting other people at risk because he disagrees with the law and school rules is what you have said deserves prison time and/or firing.....when it's black people breaking them.

Outside running pulling fresh air. No mask required.

Coach is correct.

I would think if you practice with a mask on you would train your body to breath with the restriction. When the time comes to safely remove the mask you'll be that much stronger. Like training with a backpack on.

"Comfortably"? Fuck! Cowboy up already! Pansy.
