He's an actor, as opposed to merely a "star", which you are possibly more familiar with. Stars tend to be based on popularity and politics rather than any reasons of talent or ability, unlike actors, who tend to make up for the star's shortcomings.

He is one of my all time favorites, and yea he does die in nearly every movie he's ever been in. Granted in the vast majority of those he is the villain so, thats to be expected lol.
