Smash My PS3 (or How to stir and already boiling pot)

How is buying something and then destroying it anti-consumerism? Seems to me he consumed that particular product in no time at all. And it contains an advertisment for his website! More like recklessly wasteful consumerism.

Alternatively: attention seeking nerds acting out.

Boo hiss.

I too am waiting for the point to this.

From the site's FAQ:
"Aren't you helping Sony by buying their product?
I got nothing against Sony making money. This project only exists for the sole purpose of providing satisfaction to people who hate the Play Station 3, or just like seeing the reaction of the people who just spend a day in line to get their hands on one of these consoles. Entertainment, nothing more!"

Ah. So it's not anti-consumerism at all. It's just donation-funded schadenfreud.

Gayest video title ever. Anti-consumerism is *not* buying a PS3. Buying one for the sole purpose of destroying it on the street is, in fact, wanton consumerism. Which is no doubt why he was dressed as a pimp. :

"This is all about screwing with a bunch of people who have wayyyyy too much time on their hands."

When someone make videos designed to mock particular people and builds a website for doing so, it strikes me as questionable to say the people being mocked have too much free time.

I am going to say that the fact people are willing to pay $600 dollars for a gaming computer is just sad. Worse is the ones who will pay more than that. Its just a machine wait a year until price goes down (hopefully) and fixed the bugs.
Me personally I'm cheap I haven't bought a PS2 or an XBOX yet because I still think at 125 for a PS2 is still too expensive.
