Reporter Interview Fail

shatterdrosesays...

Not enough current to do that. My field recorder (several grand) only takes 6 AA's, so not enough to kill her.

However, those carbon fiber 1lb boom poles are incredibly not useful for saving a drowning victim. And he would be out a Senn 618, a Rycote and looks like a K-Tek. Oh, nothing short of 3 or 4 grand total.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if he simply didn't know what else to do.

The one that would want to see her electrocuted.

Even more suspicious: why is the mayor taking off his necklace? So he can throw it at the reporter asking the wrong questions to weight her body down?

? what kind of sound guy would offer his mic to a drowning woman?
I'm suspicious...

Guys, guys, guys... You're all misunderstanding.

He wasn't trying to save her. He was doing his job, just trying to capture the audio of her drowning.

You have to understand these news folks know not to interfere with a developing story. It's their prime directive.

But, yeah, the fall is totally fake.

Her butt was firmly perched on the inside of the rail. When she grabbed the rope neither her feet nor butt moved, then all of a sudden she pops her butt out toward the water.

And weirder than the boom mic thing, the interviewee takes off his Olympic medal or whatever that necklace is and starts trying to hand it down to her in the water as if that would save her. Wtf?

I don't know shit about swimming with heavy clothes but even though it does look faked somewhat, why would you jump into the water with all those clothes and nothing to grab on to once in the water. Seems like a potentially dangerous stunt if it is one.

Paybacksays...

Actually, she seems to be a bit off balance and wants to lean against the rope, but it gives way.

The Flava Flav bling the mayor is wearing is his "livery collar" or "chain of office". Old European affectation.

Paybacksays...

I had the impression he was taking it off so it didn't slip over his head when he laid down to try and reach her. He wasn't holding it out to her so much as counterbalancing as he knelt down.

So fake or no? Seems plausible either way. We need a definitive, internety news article to call this debate to a close. No more internety guesses PLZ!
