Professor Stephen Hawking Takes Zero-Gravity Flight

World-famous physicist Stephen Hawking performed eight parabolas of weightlessness on Thursday (26/04/07) during a better-than-expected aeroplane flight that he saw as the first step toward a trip in space.
it was the first time Professor Hawking, the world's leading expert on gravity, had a zero-gravity experience.

He probably is Aware of all these things by now, his own limitations, the tendancy of others to pander, etc. Too bad bio-technology hasn't yet advanced to the point where he could be 'transferred' to a more mobile vessel. And yet, maybe his physical limitations actually spur his intellect to greater heights to compensate, who knows.

You're right, it is strange to hear them speak to him in such a basic way. Perhaps they're too aware of his inability to express himself in the moment without his voice synthesizer (and, as such, overcompensating on his behalf.) I'm sure they needn't have worried.

[ Professor Hawking is sixty-two years old. I think that makes him the oldest survivor of A.L.S., (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Americans call this Lou Gherig's disease, after a baseball player who had it. ]

agree with karaidl. i imagine that if it was anyone's first time doing this they would have been like, "ok going up. rotate, go ahead try it. oh shit, coming down, better get ready." plus, since they were working in a team of three to help him, a little communication might come in handy. calm down everyone.

Im sure,Every person on that flight, felt honored to participate in a day which gave Hawkings so much joy. Im sure they also felt very humble in the presents of such a man.
