President of Venezuela Calls George W Bush a Donkey

joedirtsays...

Ironically, it seems that this kind of fireside-chat is exactly what I expect out of Bush. You'd think this sort of rhetoric would be beneath world leaders. Funny what the world leaders have come to these days. Chavez is appealing to his base. And I'm still not sold that Bush's aw-sucks routine is feigned idiocy, or if he is genuinely a dry-drunk now.

tgeffeneysays...

Funny how his insults turned to calling bush a drunk. If a world power's leader said the same, he/she would really look stupid. Funny how that was applauded in his speach though. Next, he might call someone ugly.

"Ironically, it seems that this kind of fireside-chat is exactly what I expect out of Bush."

Maybe, but that's just because you are a fool.

"Though Chavez is actually pretty smart to still be alive and in power given how much the CIA hates him"

Are you kidding? Thanks to our political correctness and the general populace being so weak willed, the CIA haven't been able to do much of a damn. Sorry, but the world is a cruel place, it's time we give those that have the interest of our country the tools to keep the rest of the world fearing our reprisals instead of making us a mockery.

Oh sorry, I forgot it's cool to bash those in power because you are all smarter and more qualified for their positions. So, how was your intelligence briefing at the pentagon this morning? I'm sure time at community colleges made you all world class leaders!

hotpotatomashsays...

joedirt, u r right. he crossed the line with the drunk remark although the rest seemed accurate. beyond the lame rhetoric, what's really bad about this is that it literally could move bush to act. bush is like otto in "a fish called wanda" - just don't call him stupid. but with bush, it is don't call him chicken or coward. this is why the neocons were running around town calling bush weak on foreign policy. and it worked. bush became even more hawkish which is hard to believe.

malice, i think you were born about 65 years too late and in the wrong country. oh, and FYI, we need venezuela far more than venezuela needs us. you don't think chavez knows this? that's why he has the power and can say these things. in fact, the only person/country benefitting more from high oil prices than saudi arabia and bush, cheney, rumsfeld, etc. is chavez.

also, do you even realize your making the case against your own position? you admit the world mocks us but you cannot come to terms with the reasons behind the mockery. there is a much easier solution than warring with every country on the planet.

and why do you assert a direct correlation between government officials and intelligence and demean the intellignece of people on this board? it is a well known fact that money and connections play a far greater role in advancing through government than intelligence. look at our president. there must be 30 million americans more qualified people for the job. he failed in everything he had tried prior to running for president and still almost won twice.

finally, was it political correctness when the cia attempted a coup in venezuela? it seems to me you are a bit quick to throw around the word fool and would be better served looking in the mirror.

Fun quiz on a loosely related topic: do you know which country is America's largest source of imported oil these days?

Curious to see if you know the answer - I'll check in tomorrow.

daphnesays...

Excellent point, Krupo. Mark my words, they'll probably invade them soon, too. Still, it's funny to see how oil prices skyrocket when there's a new crisis in the Middle East.

The current administration's knickers were showing when they tried that coup thing in Venezuela. Seriously, how much more evidence do the American people need? Can't they see that this isn't about "freeing" people? If it was, we would do something about Tibet. But there's no oil in them thar Tibetan hills.

And the prize goes to pho3n1x, who ended up perverted guessing game by actually consulting real facts.

BTW, thanks for the link, I knew about this fact for a while, but was going by "that's what I heard" and simply assuming I wasn't being lied to until now.

daphnesays...

Awww...I should have been more clear with my satirical comment...I meant that Bush's administration will invade Canada. Not that I'm trying to yank the prize or anything ...I just wanted to clarify my poorly written joke.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)

Maybe this is too politically loaded, but if I could - I would *nominate this one. I found it very entertaining.
