rychansays...Nice compilation! At least one third of them had some sort of closure to the conversation which wouldn't be too unusual in real life, but most of them would indeed be rude and awkward.
mindbrainsays...Up voted for the Die Hard Bonnie Bedelia bit. Whenever I'm watching that one I always continue talking as the house keeper Paulina as she's slowly and rudely and late 80's-ly being hung up on. "Oh Thank you Mrs Hol-CLICK."
residuesays...haha, I was doing the same thing for the majority of them. "OK, but be careful, don't let anybody see you" "Don't worry, I'll b-click"

FlowersInHisHairsays...I always used to think that this was how Americans finished phone conversations. And that they never paid cab drivers either.
Deanosays...This actually annoys me each time I see a scene like this. I think it's instinctual for normal people to say "bye" . Unless it's a threatening call of course...
bamdrewsays...I just hung up on a telemarketer moments before watching this
mxxconsays...geez, how much effort did they spend on researching and assembling these clips

Probably not much. I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I was shocked at first to see they never say goodbye or anything polite at the end of a phone call, but than I imagined that they are really busy people, after 25 years I still don't have a reasonable answer to this.
More likely to be part of a psychological project ...getting older didn't really helped me.
MonkeySpanksays...Peewee at the 1:00 mark wins it for me.
Contagion21says...Is no nobody else bothered by movies indicating a disconection with a dial tone? I've never heard a dialtone when my the other party hangs up on me.
lucky760says...I've always been bothered by this. I used to think that I never used the telephone correctly, but now I think it must be some kind of cinema gag like the Wilhelm Scream.
This video isn't a very good compilation because in most all the snippets, the people say something that can legitimately sound like the end of a phone call, especially without hearing the other end of the line. E.g., "Okay, I'll see you in 5 minutes." "I'm on my way." "Don't go anywhere." "See you soon." "I love you too." "I'll get back to you." "Thank you."
A better compilation would include just all the extremely inappropriate hang-ups that are even in contemporary TV shows and movies where they are really in the middle of a conversation.
rottenseedsays...I like to end my conversations by saying 'over', over.
Sagemindsays...We should just end our calls by saying "End of Line"

Paybacksays...I saw nothing wrong with either Hamilton's Terminator hang up, or Ringwald's Pretty in Pink one. The first one, she's supposed to be scared for her life, and the second's "see you at school" is close enough to goodbye for my sensibilities. The ones with versions of "love you" is fine for that sort of call too.
I personally end all my calls with "YIPPE KI YAY, MOTHERFUCKER!"
Doesn't go over too well with my mom though.
