oh man... I love when stuff like this happens and a complete douchebag gets his ass handed to him.

I also LOVED his "apology":

"I just wanted to apologize for the way our emails progressed I didn’t know how big your site was and I really didn’t believe you ran Pax , So for what’s its worth I am very sorry. "

LOL... what a fucking little piece of shit of a turd. So, it's basically: "I'm sorry you're so influential, had I known, I wouldn't have done this, but I still think I'm in the right".

just wow...

hey Ocean Marketing ... we all know who you are now... kind of a dick!

welcome to the club

from youtube comments:

"For the record - the inventor of device fired Ocean Marketing today and apologized for picking a shitty PR face."

from reddit:

"He hasn't been fired. The company that makes the controllers is simply not doing business with Ocean Market[t]ing any more"

and Twitter:

Hello, my name is “Mark”
Alright, my name is not Mark, nor is it Paul and I do not work for some “marketting company on the wweb” I was lucky enough to snag the twitter account once the original @OceanMarketting switched twitter accounts (No Hacks, or anything). Now that I can control the tweets on @OceanMarketting (and their Blog on their site, until they change the API) I will be using this account for good, I want to promote Indie Games, and Gaming Charities and other awesome things.

I really don't think this guy will end up suffering as much as he should. He has a history of being an asshole to customers, as catbutt's link will show. He only apologizes when someone other than the customer backlashes against him, so you know those apologies mean nothing and are fear driven.

And there's evidence that he is impersonating other people, or at least using the resources he had on behalf of N-Control to mitigate the damage to himself. I hope N-Control sues his ass off for acting in bad faith and improper access to their accounts once they terminated the business relationship with him.

Just one terrible day would be enough for me

This fella really cocked this one up, didn't he? Reading his response to the backlash against him, his excuses are pathetic - saying he's been victimised by the Internet, that he "could have been a bit nicer" and doesn't deserve the badmouthing he's getting, but he's gone way beyond just not being nice. His customer service response is jaw-dropping. If I talked to my customers like that, I'd expect the door to be hitting me on the arse on the way out. The fact that he actually blames Mike Krahulik for being hostile and unprofessional (pot, kettle) and therefore triggering a more hostile reaction from him just takes my breath away. I don't know why he was so surprised that it went public, because if I received such atrociously rude customer service I'd certainly be telling people about it.

My Tweet that I deleted because I didn't want people actually thinking I support Ocean Marketing:

I used to work @OceanMarketting then I took a Krahulik to the knee.

Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me?

You're sorry because the guy you're now being rude to is influential? Not because you were being a total dick, but because someone worth brown nosing was involved? Shameless.

RFlaggsays...

Really, the guy could have simply apologized for the product delay, and when asked, gave the guy his $10 refund. Quick, easy, and everything would have been over. One of the pains of working retail is how far you have to bend over to even the most unreasonable people, the guy who bought the Avenger was being more than reasonable up to that point.
I mean I think the customer would understand things being on the slow boat from China...
The place I used to work for had slow boat from China syndrome from time to time. A factory worker left a window open once and all the boxes got wet so they had to repack everything... The company had a very bad habit of advertising stuff in USA Today, the Parade section of the paper and in newspapers in general that they haven't even ordered yet, and if they didn't get enough orders they would send an FTC Notice telling the customer "Due to circumstances beyond our control, the product you ordered is currently unavailable and we have cancelled your order. We'll let you know when it becomes available again." We sent FTC Notices out all the time... Despite all the unethical things they did (the selling of stuff they didn't even order themselves yet isn't even a chip on the tip of a big iceberg), they at least treated the customers with more respect than this guy did.

mas8705says...

The scariest thing about this whole situation is how because of one idiot, it can cause a HUGE BACKLASH on the internet... From your products being poorly rated on amazon, your videos getting suddenly disliked, and even your family getting threatened (who is doing that? I mean, yes this guy is an asshole for treating customers like dirt, but no one's family should be threatened)...

This is why you don't try and act like you are the king of the world: if you do, all those "peons" are going to bum rush you so fast, you won't have time to say, "Whoops"

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

I've had to deal with this guy's type. His family should be off limits... They have punishment enough by having thier wagons hitched to this specimen. But the guy himself is clearly one of those arrogant, self-deluded types who would club baby seals without a second thought, and then blame the witnesses and the cops when he gets arrested. The sad thing is, far 'bigger' entities than this one PR flack do this kind of bologna all the time and get away with it. I don't generally cotton to OWS types, but they do have it right when it comes to wanting to hold large organizations accountable for thier bologna.

Still being an asshole:

Attempts to extort former client

I've been trying to get him to give up the access to these things he's been holding hostage (email accounts, Twitter, etc) by asking nicely for a couple of days. The gloves are off now.

Paul told me on the phone two hours ago that "Eight months ago, I locked down all this stuff so they wouldn't be able to fuck with me. If they don't give me what I want, it's war." His demands include a contract written on his terms and substantial compensation, both immediate and for as long as the company continues to exist. He flaunted the PR debacle he created as proof that he "made the company a success", citing all the media and public attention as the "best thing that ever happened to Avenger".

L-O-L
Chiullan has done a pretty masterful job of damage control. He's managed to very publicly disown and denounce Christoforo (going so far as to say that there "isn't a bus big enough for me to throw Paul Christoforo under."
