Sagemindsays...Perfect, Now what do they do with it?
The only thing I can think of is "Bon Fire"
thinker247says...I always heard it was no more than 11 times, which would still work here. There was no way they'd be able fold that paper once more.
grintersays...way to poop on their birthday cake thinker.
raviolisays...Ain't that folding problem just about scale? normally with a regular sheet of paper, the stiffness of the paper stack after 7 folds does't allow a sufficient lever to make an additional fold. Just increase the size of the sheet (as they did) or find very thin paper, and you'll be able to make as many folds as you want.
My 2 pesetas.
Silent002says...There's actually an equation to determine how many times a sheet of paper can be folded in half. It all comes down to the size of the sheet, its thickness and how it is folded.
For a little more info, check out the Wikipedia page of the girl who derived the equation.

I was thinking of using a reciprocating saw and make the world largest Paper Snowflake. Although anything with fire is nifty.
Throbbinsays...Prior to this, I was the ONLY persons who knew the myth was bunk.
I am vindicated!
ForgedRealitysays...Mmmm.. lookit her ass...I wouldn't mind folding that. >_>
JAPRsays...Huge upvote for turning it up to 11.
jatohasays...That fold goes to 11.
But it is remarkable that they had to have a football field size of paper to get only four more folds.

that's 10 folds, right? Counting the layers. 11 = 2048, 12 = 4096, 13 = 8192
