Marine explains how it is (NSFW for some language)

If you've been to either Iraq or Trashghanistan then this might just make your day. If you're a disillusioned peace/love monger then this might upset you, not like I give a rats fat ass.

There's a bit of a random "SitRep" crap at the end and also a couple of those damn youtube banner thingies. Any way you can remove those?

when i was in the navy years ago seemed every country we stopped, especially in the persian gulf(hated that tour, they didnt like americans at all, even back then) there were always kids begging..and yeah..it got annoying after awhile.
but thats not the reason im commenting.
it was the sentence "disillusioned peace/love monger then this might upset you"
uh....huh?
makes no sense..the words you chose are paradoxical.
maybe this sentence would be more apt.
"for those of you who politically correct, and are easily offended by foul language and brazen insensitivity then this video may upset you".
that sentence makes more sense.
those who have not been in combat readiness situations probably would not understand this mans humor.the constant threat of attack, followed by days upon days of boredom can de-sensitize people.
miltary and former military understand this, for the rest they most likely dont.
i think thats what you trying to get across,im not trying to put words in your mouth, nor be a smart ass( ok..i am a wee bit) but that one sentence made no sense.
anyways...i been there,done that,and yeah....its funny.
think you have to have been there to get it tho.
maybe thats just me.

"a disillusioned peace/love monger"

Your Harvard education really shines.

Wow, another video of some American asshole big tough bad-ass Marines bitching and moaning about the horrible, horrible Afghani kids.

My heart swoons....

chilaxesays...

It seems like it's the chain of command's responsibility to keep things like teaching kids to insult themselves in English to a minimum. Hard to blame the soldiers themselves, who are doing the best they can while putting their asses on the line.

peggedbeasays...

this is the reason my brother told me i was never ever under any circumstances allowed to date a marine. fuck.
i also work a job that makes me desensitized to horrible horrible shit. i dont think that gives me the right to be a fucking dick. granted im not being shot at while i do it, but thats what you signed up for. and normally i would blame governments for throwing their weighty cocks around while kids and poor people fight and die in their wars, but who looks like the whiny brat in this video? yeah your job sucks if you need to vent and make jokes fine, but look how you grew up and where you get to go home, and look at where the kids that are the butt of your "joke" /abuse are stuck. caught in a constant stream of war and poverty and gunfire for the at least the last 30 years. get some fucking perspective. oh, also i would upvote if this were posted to show what a whiny fucking cock that batch of marines are, but i will downvote because you expect me to empathize with them for it and because you labeled this comedy. hardy har har. boo fucking boo big bad ass marine didnt think signing to be a marine would mean hed have to go to war.

peggedbeasays...

yeah confirmed. i showed this to the 6 exmilitary dudes who have all been stationed in the region as early as 1991 and as recently as 2006. they concur, these guys are selfish whiny pricks.
is this proof you dont have to be a "peace monger" or "dellusional" to find this offensive? possibly.
go take your entitlements and eat yourself, douchebag.

Asmosays...

Pretty easy solution.

Get the fuck out of their country...

That being said, I don't blame the marine that much, he's just exhibiting one of the more horrible sides of humanity, ie. when put in a situation where you are desensitised and under constant stress, it has a strong dehumanising effect on you. The guy might well be a fucking douchebag but he shouldn't be there in the first place.

Instead I'd like to direct your attention to the wankers in your capitol. Anytime they choose to end two illegal invasions and bring these guys home (and hopefully give them the medical and psychological support they'll require so that they can hopefully adapt back to a society where you can't get away with abusing children for shits and giggles) then this poor little guy will no longer have to deal with the horrors of war (ie. children begging.. terrible stuff)

Irishmansays...

This is why I would tie my kids arms and legs together to stop them joining the army. America does a great job of fighting imperial wars whilst making them look 'humanitarian' or 'necessary'.

rottenseedsays...

We don't wanna be there...they don't want us there. Why are we there? Just stupid. I can't blame him for harboring bad feelings. It's gotta suck being there, if only because he's away from friends and family. Furthermore, everybody here has a limit to what they can tolerate before they stop giving a fuck. I'm sure being in their situation would definitely push your limits too. Sorry America doesn't train the marines to be philanthropists or humanitarians. If they did, they'd all be dead philanthropists/humanitarians.

"Trashghanistan"
Does this video really reflect your world view?

Yes it does because I was there. It also reflects the worldview of 90% of my brigade that was there. If you've been there it probably would reflect yours too. Chances are you haven't so shut it.

Trashghanistan is a euphemism for what we really called it, Afshitistan

sidenote: I'm not entirely sure if this is from Iraq or Afghanistan but if it's from Iraq, it's not dissimilar from Afghanistan as far as the greedy kids and what not.

Also, if you HAVE been to either of those countries, you would know they're not denying water, "biscuits", what have you to needy children but greedy children. If you HAVE been there you would know that they want these things for the same reason that a four year old wants the toy you are playing with: because YOU are playing with it.

I never denied the children or adults of Afghanistan water or something to eat or even cigarettes if they needed it. But when you have given a CASE of water so his family could have clean water for the day and he continues to ask for water or if you have given a cigarette to one particular ANP and he tucks it behind his ear, pulls out a pack of his own cigarettes, and smokes HIS OWN cigarette you quickly realize more often than not when they ask for something its not out of need but rather out of selfish want.

They ask for water not because they are thirsty, but because you have more water. They ask for "biscuits" not because they are hungry or poor but because you have more. They ask for "pen" (a popular one) not so they can write (most of the country is illiterate anyway) but because you have them.

There were many times where we gave out cases and cases of water to villagers while we passed through and many times when we handed out entire pallets of MRE's to families and even times when we handed out pens and other little trinkets to children so that they'd have a reason to smile. So don't stand there with a straight face and tell us we are selfish and without humanity.

Oh please smooman, am sorry that the US military deems it more important to invade shitty bronze age nations and bomb them back to the stone age, instead of you know the Dominican republic.

And don't claim that 90% of your brigade has this view, maybe unlike you they realize that while you may be there for a shitty deployment these people have to live there, and don't have the opportunity to return to the cushy suburban lives away from disease, death, poverty and starvation they have to deal with for the rest of their lives.

You represent the very worst of the United States Military. I don't care what your skills are and how many rounds you put down the firing range or your qualifications. You lack any kind of perspective.

teaching them to chant insults directed at them and their country is bad. I won't deny that I did it too. A guilty pleasure perhaps. Sorry I'm not perfect like everyone else on here =P

Grimmsays...

Is it possible you are confusing greed with survival instincts? I would imagine that in that environment what one has in abundance one day could be scarce or non-existent many other days. Things they don't need like pens or whatever might be traded for things that they do need.

perspective? answer this one question: have you been there? The answer to that question will tell me all I need to know about your perspective

EPIC FAIL

I grew in a place called Uzbekistan. That's north of Afghanistan.
I live in Kuwait. That's south of Iraq.

Farhad:

you answered my question and, to be honest, it was not what I expected. Your answer tells me that your perspective is respectable. So, if I may, allow me to take another look at your comment:

I'm too am sorry that we don't occupy places like Bermuda or New Zealand. I'd reenlist for 10 years in a heartbeat if we did =P. I think that's completely besides the point, however.

Dont claim most of my Battalion holds that view? Who do you think knows the members of my Battalion better, me or you? I'll give you a hint: one of us has lived, ate, worked, bonded, fought, and bled with them for a very, very long time. One of us has not.

You are right, I sympathize greatly with countries such as Afghanistan because they are not afforded the luxuries that I am. Especially the children. They are born into it. They don't have a choice.

look, i'm not a bullshitter. I spent a long time there. i didnt like it. i DID it because it was my job. I didnt like most of the people there, mostly government officials. If my negative view of it offends your delicate sensibilites, I apologize.
