Marilyn Manson vs. Bill O'Reilly

An Oldie but a Goodie.
laurasays...

Read his book The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell.
I think Bill O'Reily should stick to interviewing people within the reality realm of his understanding.
MM handles these things soooooooo well. I am not such a huge fan of his music, but I am a huge fan of him.

This and his appearance in Bowling for Columbine should be all anyone needs to understand he isn't the psychopath he appears to be in videos and such. A highly intelligent, well-spoken, rational man.

He should become a regularly-appearing pundit, though perhaps that's a bit too evil for him.

That was pretty much word for word what i would have said.

I never really liked the music (except for 'beautiful people') but I was sold on Marilyn Manson the instant I saw his interview in "Bowling for Columbine." There was nothing I could take away from that but the truth. I'm looking forward to hearing more from him.
If you didn't see his brief interview in Michael Moore's movie I'll summarize it for you. All he said there was what nobody was thinking: we should shut up start listening to kids and to people in general. Hardcore listening-if there is such a thing. By the way, I am RKBA all the way. That doesn't stop me from listening, though.

"Anything can be misinterpreted, people can look at Christ on a cross and think
'This is an image of murder, this is violent, this has sexual imagery in it'..."

That's a perfect point to make when talking to someone like Bill. And it sure shut him up, he ended the interview right then and there with nothing else to say.

Wow, P's all around. Manson is the P-pleaser. (Tee-hee)

MM seems to be a smart guy that has found his niche; his presentation doesn't really appeal to me, but he is a very reasonable man under all the make-up.

I love the frozen look of terror he puts on for his audience at 2:14.

Ah...the typical O'Reilly cut-offs and agenda. By trying to spread his morals, he insults the rest of us by inferring that the masses aren't smart enough to think for themselves. I'm sure the world would be a better place without free thinkers or self expression. We should all be sheep, right Bill? Then it will be easier to round up the troublemakers for that Final Solution.

Great Interview, His music is ok, hehe, but no denying he is a smart guy, and I hate how O'Reilly tries to make out that he has some authority "What troubles our kids"

NeuralNoisesays...

What I find very strange is the fact that Bill keeps mentioning that children with no parents - or parents who dont care - could misinterpret his actions.

Thats like setting some sort of lowest common denominator. I mean, that would be a parenting problem, more than anything else.

"Wow, it's amazing how much more civil BillO used to be."

"Thanks!
(However, that comment could also have been considered brilliant sarcasm, no?)"

man you people are slow on the uptake......(took me a bit)
good on ya, O'rly

Sure but I thought both parties handled the interview well and it was at it's core, an entertaining interview and is that not what it's all about?

Win/Win

Seems intelligent enough, but I would still have an MI if he came to my door to pick up my daughter for a date. Like Alice Cooper years ago, some folks are smart enough to know that shock sells.

Hey everybody let's discuss Marilyn Manson's music. Wait, no one likes it. Hey let's discuss his manhood. Wait, he doesn't have it anymore. Hey let's discuss his personality. Wait, he's a product. /done

Abel_Priscsays...

@CaptainPlanet:

Why would we discuss his manhood?

Any other celebrity out there, we'd never 'discuss their manhood', so why would we discuss Manson's? Wait, you're trying to use that meaningless and irrelevant aspect of his life against him, I got it.

rottenseedsays...

I like his music. His manhood? I don't know what that's supposed to entail. His personality? He's a tool just like the rest of us. The only difference between him and most of us is he knows it.

My husband (who carried an M-16 in Vietnam) immediately interpreted this to mean a weapon, while I immediately read "Myocardial Infarction")
Just thought I'd share.... after two margs....

He plays ball with O'Reilly, and give him a lot of respect, agreeing with him on his large generalization in order to then have O'Reilly's ear when he responds with his own challenge

For example, the last exchange:
BO - "Never before in the history of this country have so many corrupting influences descended on children..."
MM - "Sure...; Anything can be misinterpreted; people can look at Christ on a cross and think 'this is an image of murder, this is violent, this has sexual imagery in it'..."
