chingaleraOne of the many things I love about Japanese culture...Their embrace of America's polyrhythmic legacy....Show me ONE American granny who plays Jazz drums in a band, and I'll eat hat after hat on the A-train baby....

SDGundamXIn the last part where they are in the hotel room, she "reports" to grandpa that the day she thought would never come finally arrived and that it was a once-in-a-lifetime great day. She then tells her granddaughter that the world belongs to the granddaughter and all other young people now, and encourages her to go out and do whatever makes her happy.
cgnessIf you don't think that's the sweetest shit ever get the fuck out of my face
ZawashSuzanne Vega's grandma was a touring drummer in the 1930's, in an all-girl band. Don't know the music style, though.

dannym3141I'd just like to point out that a Grammy is a music award, and i avoided the video because i wasn't interested in watching an awarded drummer achieving their dream.
I can't be the only one to have done that. Title is misleading.
bareboards2@dannym3141 twisted my arm. I changed it.
Grumble grumble grumble.
To soothe my need for my affectionate nickname, allow me to say here:
GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY GRAMMY
I feel better now.
chingalera'plays' not played, but yeah, there's probably a butt-load of female grannies who play the drums in the U.S., -There were a handful of all-female Jazz Band in the 30s-40s but their drummers were to young to have been grannies...OR perhaps too gay to want any offspring-Here's one of the hippest on film, Viola Smith....Maybe this was Vega's Granny??
MY GAWD, Frances Carroll (bandleader)....what a LOOKER!
*nibbles on brim of felt coxwain's...

chingaleraI had to do a double-take as well but yeah, kinna confusing. Always heard, 'granny' or 'grams' used as an endearing term for one's grandma..

newtboyCindy Blackman (born November 18, 1959), sometimes known as Cindy Blackman-Santana,[1] is an American jazz and rock drummer. Blackman is best known for recording and touring with Lenny Kravitz. Wife of Carlos Santana.
That count? Are you headed to NY for a fedora feeding frenzy? Take pics please!
