Hancock - New Trailer :) Haha! Drunk Super Anti-Hero! (HQ)

There are heroes... there are superheroes... and then there's Hancock. With great power comes great responsibility -- everyone knows that -- everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough -- as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think -- until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey, and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet -- and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary, insists that he's a lost cause.

OMFG. LMFAHS. I can't wait for this.

And finally a superhero movie where the superhero is using his super powers throughout. (Sick of Smallville's 10 year run with Stupidman still unable to fly.)

Abel_Priscsays...

This trailer just explained the ENTIRE plot of the movie, from the beginning where he's a drunken idiot who only takes advantage of his power, to his recovery in jail, to him being a serious (yet still wacky) superhero. As far as the ultimate point of the plot goes, there aren't any secrets with this flick now. Now the only reason to see the movie is for the small funny stuff (that wasn't in this trailer. And if the pattern of comedies persist, we just saw the majority of the funny scenes as well) in between the major plot points that we already now know, and to witness the cliche' ending where he beats the bad guy. (Spoiler alert? )

I hate how trailers are made nowadays.

I still want to see it. There's more than JUST plot (although that's important). The comedic elements, the acting, the cinematography, the use of music...movies are a work of art, just like a book. Yeah, you know the hero's going to come out on top, but you want to know HOW, and you want to know the little details that happen on the way there.

Who's the stupid airhead that made these special effects?
You can have all the superpowers in the world, it doesn't mean you can violate basic physics like inertia and lever principles.

I mean c'mon I'm fine with flying (affects only himself) but it doesn't matter if you fall 1000 feet onto concrete or an outstretched arm, you still stop in about one inch.

Is it too much to ask?

According to an interview I read with the producers this teaser trailer was made to emphasize the comedy in what is actually a very *dark movie, a tactic that calmed nervous production company execs.

For example, the original story apparently had Handcock getting drunk with a 12 year old and doing other more junk that was pretty beyond anti-hero.

Even if the movie is supposed to be dark, this trailer isn't, really. It's up to DFT, of course, but just my $0.02.

And by the way, even though the execs struggled with the ratings board, it's still going to be PG-13.

For some reason people don't like teaser trailers. I sifted the first trailer of this movie months ago in HD and it only got 4 votes.

Then there are people who don't like to see every thing in a trailer.

While this is unfortunately true, this trailer has made me want to see the movie now, whereas the first teaser was: ....? Meh.

But I do agree, trailers need to much more structured to 1) not give away every funny joke written into the movie and 2) not give away the entire plot structure.

Ahhhh! What if his powers are BASED on the control of inertia? Control the vector value and kinetic energy of your inertia, you can fly, you can lift things, you can instantly convert the inertia of a loud mouthed little shit falling 1000's of feet through the air so there is suddenly no impact force. If you give the atoms of your body infinite inertia, bullets will bounce off, your fist will go anything without damage to you.

I like superhero movies that have at least a casual relationship with reality ->kid squishes when falling 100m+ and lands in his arm
But, meh, still looks very funny. I like the realism of his behaviour. Will Smith doing what he does well, comedy.

I have to admit that I was waiting for the ugly girl/boy to splat everywhere.

[That would have been quite funny, especially if Hancock peered casually over his sunglasses and pulled a funny "oooh, that's naaasty" face.]

Kruposays...

What disappointed me more than the big reveal (discussed below) was the idea of less drunkenness, more order.

I can just imagine the "orderly" part sucking hard.

The drunken hobo part was AWESOME though.

Oh it's been like that for like 50 YEARS.

Seriously, rent a vintage DVD, check out the trailers. They explain the ENTIRE movie to you.

Of course, back then, a lot of the movies were really good throughout, and they didn't just have 5 good bits, which were all in the trailer *cough*Cool Runnings*cough*.

Batemen might provide enough comedy to save it though.
