Morganthsays...Wow. There's a life-saving decision.
Ryjkyjsays...Yeah, I'd probably be paste right now.
visionepsays...I wonder if it would have been safer to brake and stay in his lane hitting the trailer of the crashing truck rather than go around like that. Going around the truck in the other lane could have brought on a guaranteed fatality if he had hit an unseen car traveling in the other direction.
Obviously in this situation he saved any damage to his own vehicle and likely did it on instinct. But I still wonder if there was a reaction that would have been safer overall.
MonkeySpanksays...Amazing, that guy didn't scream or nothing. I would be jesusing all over the place!

I wouldn't have time to swear!
Draxsays...considering the trailer was still in motion right up to when he starts to swerve, it would not in any way appear, to the driver, to be a good idea to hit that at all... unless we're just talking self-sacrifice in order not to endanger anyone else.
The trailer looks like it's about to just whip around, if not topple over. Would munch his own vehicle pretty severly I would think.
...besides with his reaction time if there was another car in the other lane he probably would have slammed the breaks, spun the wheel.. done a half-doughnut, popped it into first and flew off in the other direction.
juliovega914says...Who records this shit!
shinyblurrysays...This happened to me once..woman slid coming down a hill on the freeway, banged into the railing and then floated back out into traffic..cars crashed into eachother, screeching this way and that..i somehow managed to avoid getting hit..swinging my wheel around and I ended up driving backwards through all this and pulled off to the side over the line..i stop to catch my breath..amazed..and then this other woman comes flying over the hill and smashes into me anyway..still managed to drive away though

A lot of companies are using dash cams now. Against and FOR their drivers. Protects the company against false claims and bad drivers.

The truck was speeding (maybe no brakes), trying to avoid the slower moving Sprinter van, and you could see no vehicle immediately behind him before. I would have done it too.
Chimelingsays...As far as I can tell, he did the only decision available, the truck had way to much momentum and would've easily swallowed whatever car this, clearly Jedi-Knight offspring was driving.
Glad he made it, and I hope the truck-driver was alright.
