Enemy At The Gate - 5 Shots 5 Kills

Vassili Zaitsev was a celebrated hero to Russia in World War 2 - A sniper who's rifle is still on show today at the Stalingrad History Museum. His final tally at the end of the war was over 400...

Several times decorated with the Order of Lenin, Vassili Zaitsev was later elevated to the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union.

He would have been banned from every Counter-Strike server...

This is at the start of the movie - and so is not a spoiler :) If you have not seen this, it's a rather excellent movie

When I occasionally pull this off in DoD I feel pretty hardcore.

My problem with Enemy at the Gates is it starts out this fantastic and just goes relentlessly down hill, to the point where it's almost unwatchably tedious at the end.

yeah this movie really does start off amazing and then some where around 30 minutes into it, it starts to go into a tailspin, but is able to regain its composure near the end to save itself from humiliation.

come on farhad, that is a sweet scene. the rest of the film would have to be really really bad to put me off after this scene.

i don't like it when people have stupid accents in films, would be better with original language... but subtitles kinda get in the way of a scene like this.

but british actors saying "komrraid pass me ze gun" is even more stupid, right?
interesting topic anyway.

Vassili Zaitsev - very common British name

For anyone interested, this is the only time in the film he uses the Mosin Nagant 1891/30 rifle, which was eventually modded to become the standard sniper rifle the Russians used during WWII. Later, he moves on to an SVT-40 if I remember correctly, but I could be wrong...
